Opening Hymn: Come as you are to worship by Brian Doerkson
Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come
One day ev’ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev’ry knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose you now
Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come
One day ev’ry tongue will confess You are God
One day ev’ry knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those,
Who gladly choose you now
Willingly we choose to surrender our lives
Willingly our knees will bow
With all our hearts, oh, mind…

Opening Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, I hope the words that you put through me are pleasing in your presence. That they help this congregation be able to meditate on this sermon and understand it. Amen.

Sermon for Sunday July 18, 2020

This week all week long we have been writing on the website and giving you chapters about The book of Matthew 12-17. We will then be previewing something when we talk about the book of Mark in this sermon.

The main point of Chapter 12 is the Sabbath. Most people t think that the sabbath was on Sunday, but it was not. It was on Saturday. Back in the day when Jesus and his deciples were on earth, they would go into the garden and pick thier food, and do chores that had to be done and then rest, as well as pray to the Heavenly Father.

Chapter 13 main point is Jesus explaining the importance of giving a tithe. This will bring a lot of blessings from the lord, and all you might need if you tithe. In the chapter this is not mentioned, but 10 percent of your income is expected. The gift of hearing and sight is also mentioned where you can hear the voice of God, and see him if he should manifest. Here is an example of a short story where tithing can help. There was someone a long time ago that hardly had any money. Could not make ends meet, or meet thier own needs, and on top of it was starving. One day this person began to tithe into thier church. God then began to bless this person and the needs were met. This was all because of a small tithe, and a lot of believing. It does really work. You may feel like you cannot tithe at times, but it will help if you do as long as you believe in Jesus. You can tithe at your local church or any ministry you want to. It is up to you.

In Chapter 14 it talks about how John the baptist ended up trying to help King Herald’s daughter stay out of trouble with the king. This is a good thing, but not back in those days. Later he was thrown in jail due to his beliefs and preaching God’s word. Jesus and the other deciples came to rescue him out of jail.

Chapter 15 discusses how Jesus was able to feed many people with very little food, and still have food left over. He was able to do this miracle. He was able to give sight to someone who was born blind. People who were not smart he was able to make them become very smart.

Chapter 16 mentions about rebuking deciples at times because they did acts not of our heavenly father. Rebuke means a strong criticism of someone’s actions. Jesus did do this at times to his deciples, or wherever he saw fit. There are rules about this however. A list of rules can be found in the bible. 1Timothy chapter 5. Job Chapter 13, and 1 corinthians 5. There are other books about this but we just mentioned a couple of references.

Chapter 17 mentions rebuking as well, healing sickness and other conditions. It also goes over how Jesus can remove an evil spirit from someone.

A recap of what was discussed above.
As you can see from chapters 12-17 Jesus discussed about John the baptist being in prison, rebuking and what it means. Healing someone of conditions. How Jesus could perform various miracles on people, such as taking very little food and feeding many people with it. Making someone blind have sight, and making someone not so smart become very smart.

Closing Prayer: Our Heavenly Father we hope that this sermon will stick in our congregation’s hearts and souls. That they understand the meaning of the sermon and understand you better. We should all praise the lord Jesus Christ for giving us this word today through these chapters in Matthew, and helps us to understand what our lord and savior expects from us. We hope that this sermon helps our congregation get a better understanding of our heavenly father and Jesus, and it resonates in their hearts and spirit. Amen.

Closing Hymn: Jesus, Name above all namesJesus, name above all names
Jesus, name above all names
Beautiful Saviour, Glorious Lord
Emmanuel, God is with us
Blessed Redeemer, Living Word
Jesus, name above all names
Beautiful Savior, Glorious Lord
Emmanuel, God is with us
Blessed Redeemer, Living Word
Lord I praise your name
Jesus name above all names
Jesus, name above all names
Beautiful…

Benediction: We hope you will read the bible wherever you are, and that you will have peace with it, as we go through the series. And from thereafter, and that you truly learn about your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and your Heavenly Father. Go in peace. Amen.
