Revelation 3: 7-13
7:7 from the tribe of Simeon 12,000, from the tribe of Levi 12,000, from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,
7:8 from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000, from the tribe of Joseph 12,000, from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.
7:9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
7:10 And they cried out in a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.
7:11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
7:12 saying: Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!
7:13 Then one of the elders asked me, These in white robeswho are they, and where did they come from?
Philadelphia is one of the 7 churches that was written to by John. There was a king and a General that was the king’s brother, and his name was Phidelphi; which the city was named after. He was passionate, and founded the city in 189 before Jesus came. Philadelphia was known for education and sports, many people knew a lot of greek and it was the language of life. Many people lived in fear and there was not much trust; this was due to Roman influence. There was a lot of uncertainty even though there was access to food fast. The city would have a lot of shaking and walls crumbling. As a result not much city activity. Jesus was always encouraged to be focussed on and he was addressed as Kadosh, or holy one. The key to the city was a symbol to athority. The key of David and the city is to help with doors being open in other parts of the world. Philadelphia was a missionary city due to greek culture being spread. It was a port for a message in christianity spreading too, early christianity. Wherever the greek messages went to, christianity access was potent. The Romans spread the message as well as the government. Gentiles used to be adopted into families and be accepted by Jesus. Many people were told not to accept any idols. King David was speaking to a church in Philadelphia about buying garments where white represents being pure and holy. The letter written to lardocia was about many people trying to turn away from Our Heavenly Father and strongly encouraging them to stay with him. It is important to remember who you choose to serve when being christian, someone roman or an idol, or the lord himself. Many people in lardocia were paying more attention to Roman Gods and idols rather than the lord. In order to be a christian we suggest you get a good walk with Our Heavenly Father, get into the bible, and get in a quiet place with Our Heavenly Father. Do not think of earthly things other than your job, or food. Other than that you should be focussed on Our Heavenly Father.
Closing Prayer; Heavenly Father we thank you for your word and the letter to the church in Philadelphia. Help us to remember to always stay focused more on you and a relationship with you and not on things on the earth. We pray this in the name of Our lord and savior.
Prayer of Salvation: Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior.Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
