Lesson:
Our Heavenly Father communicates with his people through the Holy Spirit, which is considered a personal connection where Our Heavenly Father speaks to individuals directly through feelings, thoughts, and impressions in their minds and hearts, often referred to as “revelation” or the “still, small voice.
Through Prayer:
People primarily communicate with God through prayer, where they speak to him and listen for his guidance
- The Role of the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit acts as a mediator, interpreting God’s will and delivering messages to individuals. - Scriptures and Prophets:
God also speaks through the written word of the Bible and through inspired leaders of the Church, who are believed to receive revelation from God.
Having a heavenly Father means that we are a part of the family of God. Through Jesus, we can receive eternal life and adoption into God’s family. This comes with many implications. As God’s children, we know that we are loved by Him.
In the past, Our Heavenly Father spoke in many different ways, and the same is still true today. Our Heavenly Father speaks to everyone through His creation (see Romans 1:18–20 and Psalm 19:1–2). The Heavenly Father has communicated through various means, including angels, His chosen spokesmen or prophets, dreams, visions, and even a donkey!
Our Heavenly Father likes to talk to us through many different methods – like the Bible, prayer, and even through other Christians. If we can always find time to listen to Our Heavenly Father and his messages to us, it shows that he may be calling. This confidence comes from having faith in Jesus and knowing that the Holy Spirit is always leading us. The Heavenly Father talks directly to humans. Over 2,000 times in the Old Testament there are phrases such as, “And God spoke to Moses” or “the word of the Lord came to Jonah” or “God said.” We see an example of this in Jeremiah 1:9.
Signs of a Call
- Strong attraction or desire to radically give your life to Our Heavenly Father and the body of christ.
- Has a very big wish to keep praying.
- Having less of a need to pay attention to things that are of the earth.
God speaks through impressions in our thoughts.
Or maybe you’ve had “stray thoughts” about something a friend or acquaintance needs to do. These impressions often show us how/when to pray for or encourage others.During our times of communion with the Lord, we will rarely hear an audible voice when the Holy Spirit “speaks” to us. What we will sense is a strong leading to do something. Or we might feel strongly about going in a certain direction. The Holy Spirit wants to show us God’s plans and purposes for our lives.
Our Heavenly Father also will communicate through different vessels, ministers, teacher’s and other different people. Some animals can be a vessel to show love towards the people.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today, humbly acknowledging that You speak to us in ways beyond our understanding, through the whispers of our hearts, the guidance of Your Holy Spirit, and the circumstances of our lives. Thank You for the privilege of communicating with You, our loving Father, even when we cannot hear Your voice clearly. Open our minds and hearts to discern Your messages, whether through the beauty of nature, the words of scripture, or the counsel of those You place in our lives. Help us to be attentive to Your promptings and to trust in Your perfect timing and plan for our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
