Opening Hymn: Lord I lift your name on high by The Marantha Praise Band:
Lord I lift Your name on high
Lord I love to sing Your praises
I’m so glad You’re in my life
I’m so glad You came to save us
You came from heaven to earth to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift Your name on high
Lord I lift Your name on high
Lord I love to sing Your praises
I’m so glad You’re in my life
I’m so glad You came to save us
You came from heaven to earth to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift Your name on high
You came from heaven to earth to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift Your name on high
You came from heaven to earth to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift Your name on high
Sermon
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good,” signifies a deep message about actively resisting evil not by retaliation or aggression, but by proactively choosing to respond with goodness and positive actions, essentially turning negativity into an opportunity for positive change. It points out how to live a life that aligns with Christian teachings, emphasizing love, forgiveness, and serving others.
Christians can not only counteract negative influences but also potentially inspire positive change in others.
The sovereign God who created everything also has the power to protect. He can promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Whatever weapon is raised against God’s people is destined to be destroyed. In saying that “no weapon formed against you shall prosper,” God promises the people of Jerusalem that no enemy will be able to produce successful weapons.
It is a promise of the teaching and gifts of the Holy Spirit. All that are taught of God are taught to love one another.
- Despite being potential rivals for the throne, David and Jonathan developed a strong bond based on mutual respect, loyalty, and shared values. David’s expression of grief for Jonathan demonstrates the power of loyalty and commitment, even in the face of potential conflict.
- Some Christians see this verse as a model for Christian love, demonstrating the importance of deep, selfless friendships that transcend personal gain.
John declares that every eye will see Jesus at the second coming. Also, the tribes of Israel will have undergone a national revival when Jesus comes again. There is no mention of such a revival before the rapture. - Christ will appear in great glory and majesty, the dead in Christ will be raised, Christ’s personal kingdom will take place, and the general judgment come on.The Lord
- Jesus Christ was from eternity, a Witness to all the counsels of God. He is the First-born from the dead, who will by his own power raise up his people.
Valentine’s Day celebrates all forms of love—romantic, familial, and platonic—not just romance. Its origins stem from ancient Roman festivals and Christian traditions honoring St. Valentine. Expressing love and gratitude strengthens relationships and fosters a sense of connection. While the holiday has undergone secularization over time, its origins in Christian martyrdom and acts of love align with broader spiritual themes of compassion, selflessness, and devotionTradition tells us that Valentine’s Day started out as a day to remember a Christian martyr, St.Valentine. This was before the cupids, flowers and chocolates came along to take the focus off Valentine’s sacrifice.
- Jesus emphasizes the importance of the heart behind our actions. Even if someone performs a seemingly charitable act, if their motivation is self-serving, it loses its true value in God’s eyes.
Jesus teaches that God rewards deeds motivated by sincere devotion to Him, not by approval from other people. He teaches a simple and authentic model prayer. - Closing Hymn: My life is in you lord by Daniel Gardner:
My life is in You, Lord
My strength is in You, Lord
My hope is in You, Lord
In You, it’s in You
(𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘵)
I will praise You with all of my life
I will praise You with all of my strength
With all of my life
With all of my strength
All of my hope is in You
Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, as we reach out to those in need, help us to do so with a pure heart, seeking only your glory and not the praise of others. Keep us from the temptation of seeking recognition for our actions, and instead, allow our giving to be a secret act of love, known only to you. May our generosity reflect your abundant grace and compassion in Jesus’ name,
- Lord help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
