A lesson on Palm Sunday. Saturday April 12, 2025.
- Matthew 21:5 – “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”
- John 12:13 – So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna!
In the Bible, palms, both in their physical form (trees and branches) and metaphorically (as “palms of the hand”), represent various symbolic meanings. Palm branches are often associated with victory, rejoicing, and festivity, as seen in the celebration of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The palm tree itself can symbolize righteousness, fruitfulness, and long life, as depicted in Psalm 92:12. Furthermore, the “palms of the hand” metaphorically represent God’s care, protection, and remembrance of his people. Palms are a diverse group of plants with numerous uses, including food, shelter, medicine, and crafting materials, with the coconut and oil palm being particularly important commercially.
Palms represent Joy
Victory,
Rejoicing,
Jesus entering
Palms also stand for joy of Our Heavenly Father and he loves to give his children lots of joy and peace. The world needs a lot of joy and peace and that cannot be received unless you read the bibles, or pray and talk to Our Heavenly Father.
When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey (Palm Sunday), crowds hailed him as their king, spreading palm branches and cloaks on the road, fulfilling Zechariah’s prophecy.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as we celebrate Palm Sunday and remember Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem, we offer you our praise and adoration. We sing “Hosanna” for the King, acknowledging his power and love.
We confess that we too, like the crowds, sometimes offer praise with our mouths but lack true devotion in our hearts. We ask for forgiveness for our shortcomings and the times we have not truly followed in his footsteps.
Help us to live out our faith with sincerity and to make Jesus the King of our lives. May we be faithful servants, reflecting his love in our actions and words. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
Our lord and savior we pray. Please forgive me of my sins against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for Saving me.
