Raynette K. Weiss and Associate Pastor Jessie K. Weiss. We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels. A study about Hebrews 12: 1-2 Monday August 18.,2025

Hebrews 12 1:2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.

This focusses on how important it is especially in these times we encourage very much to give your life to Jesus Christ. This verse explains how to turn away from an earthly and a sinful life, and living life for Our Heavenly Father. Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and (B) let us run (C) with endurance the race that is set before us. In Hebrews 12:1, the “cloud of witnesses” refers to the individuals mentioned in the previous chapter, Hebrews 11, who are known as the “Hall of Faith”. These are the individuals who demonstrated unwavering faith in God throughout their lives, despite facing various challenges and hardships. Examples include Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses, and many others. They serve as examples of faith for believers today, encouraging them to persevere in their own faith journeys. The passage in Hebrews 12:1 uses the imagery of a race, with the cloud of witnesses surrounding the believers, much like spectators at a sporting event. While some interpretations suggest these witnesses are actively observing our lives, the more common understanding is that they serve as examples and encouragements, demonstrating the power of faith and God’s faithfulness. Their stories, recorded in Hebrews 11, inspire and motivate believers to run the race of faith with perseverance, just as these heroes of faith did before them.

Therefore, the “cloud of witnesses” in Hebrews 12:1 is a reference to the faithful individuals highlighted in Hebrews 11, who provide a powerful example of faith and perseverance for those who follow.

Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father we thank you for the great example of Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy set before him. We acknowledge that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us, inspiring us to run the race with perseverance. Help us to lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us. Enable us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and to run with endurance the race you have set before us. May we find strength and joy in your presence as we follow in His steps. In Jesus’ name.

Our lord and savior we pray. Please

forgive me of my sins against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for Saving me.
