Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Lesson:
Give us this day our daily bread” is a line from the Lord’s Prayer that means to look to God as the source of everything we need. It’s a reminder that God provides for our needs each day, and that we should pray for new mercies and grace. What it means:
- Dependence: We should humbly depend on God for our physical needs.
- Anticipation: We should anticipate and pray for new mercies and grace each morning.
- Contentment: We should be satisfied with what we need.
- Generosity: We should be generous and pray for others as well as ourselves.
- Worship: We should worship God and acknowledge that he is the giver of all we need.
Why it’s important:
- This line of the prayer teaches us to come to God in a spirit of humble dependance.
- Give us this day our daily bread” means: Do take care of all our physical needs so that we come to know that you are the only source of everything good. reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning.
- It encourages us to live day by day, one step at a time, in faith that God will provide for our needs.
Closing Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray. of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
