Divine knowledge, in a theological context, refers to the perfect, complete, and unerring understanding and awareness possessed by God, encompassing all things, past, present, and future, and is often seen as a distinct contrast to the limited and flawed knowledge of humans.

Here’s a more detailed explanation:

  • Omniscience:
Divine knowledge is often associated with the concept of omniscience, meaning God’s all-knowing nature.
  • Perfect and Complete:
Unlike human knowledge, which can be incomplete or based on limited experience, divine knowledge is considered perfect and comprehensive.
  • Spiritual Understanding:
Divine knowledge is often seen as a deeper, spiritual understanding that transcends the material world and human limitations.
  • Revealed Knowledge:
In some religious traditions, divine knowledge is believed to be revealed by God through scriptures, prophets, or spiritual experiences.
  • Different from Human Knowledge:
Human knowledge is often seen as limited and subject to error, while divine knowledge is considered to be perfect and unerring.
  • Examples in different religions:
    • Christianity: Divine knowledge is seen as God’s profound understanding that enables Him to discern the best actions for humanity while also possessing the ability to deny requests based on their nature.
    • Hinduism: Divine knowledge involves a transformative awareness of God, elevating consciousness to the Universal soul, recognizing Brahma in all, losing duality, and understanding the divine spirit through philosophical concepts.
    • Islam: Knowledge holds a divine place in Islam, a fact established through the Qur’an.
    • Judaism: The knowledge of and understanding of Torah is a divine gift, bestowed on those who approach its study with the humility and the commitment to “conceive, understand, listen, learn, teach, keep and do” that which G‑d desires of us.

  • The Light of Divine Knowledge signifies
understanding beyond material perception, rooted in Vedic wisdom
