635. NOT TEACHING GOD’S WORD TO YOUR CHILDREN Deut 6:7; 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
636. NOT TOLERATING GOD’S WORD 2 Tim 4:3;3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
637. NOT VALIANT FOR THE TRUTH (FOR GOD’S WORD) Jere 9:3;3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.
638. PERVERTING THE GOSPEL Gal 1:7,8; 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
639. REJECTING THE WORD OF GOD 1 Sam 15:23,24; 23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. Jere 8:9; 9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them? Lk 7:30;30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
640. RESISTING THE TRUTH (THE WORD OF GOD) 2 Tim 3:8;8
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
641. STOPPING YOUR EARS FROM HEARING GOD’S WORD Acts 7:57; 57
Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
642. TAKING AWAY THE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO BE SAVED Lk 11:52;52
Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
643. TAKING AWAY FROM THE WORDS OF THIS PROPHECY Rev 22:19;19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
644. TO BE DESTITUTE OF THE TRUTH 1 Tim 6:5; 5
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
645. TO ERR CONCERNING THE TRUTH 2 Tim 2:18;18
Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
646. TRYING TO ENTER HEAVEN BY A WAY OTHER THAN THE GOSPEL’S WAY Jn 10:1-7; 1
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2
But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4
And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5
And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
6
This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
7
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
647. TWISTING GOD’S WORD (TO WREST OR DISTORT) 2 Pe 3:16;16
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
648. WILLINGLY IGNORANT OF GOD’S WORD 2 Pe 3:5; 5
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
649. A MAN WHO WILL NOT WORK 2 Thes 3:10;10
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
650. CONFORMING TO THIS WORLD Ro 12:2; 2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
651. FORSAKING GOD’S CALLING FOR THIS WORLD 2 Tim 4:10;10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
652. FRIENDSHIP OF THE WORLD (IS HATRED WITH GOD) Ja 4:4; 4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
653. GETTING ENTANGLED WITH THE AFFAIRS OF THIS LIFE 2 Tim 2:4;4
No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
654. GETTING SPOTTED FROM THE WORLD Ja 1:27; 27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
655. LIVING FOR YOURSELF 2 Cor 5:15;15
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Lk 9:23; 23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
656. LOVING THIS WORLD 1 Jn 2:15-17; 15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. Ja 1:27; 27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. 4:4; 4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
657. LOVING YOUR LIFE Jn 12:25; 25
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
658. MIND OR THOUGHTS ON THIS WORLD Phili 3:18,19; 18
(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
659. SERVING EARTHLY THINGS Ro 1:25; 25
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
660. SPEAKING OF THE WORLD Jn 3:31; 31
He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. 1 Jn 4:5,6; 5
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
661. SORROW OF THE WORLD 2 Cor 7:10;10
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
662. WORLDLY AMBITION Acts 8:18-24;18
And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.
19
And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
20
When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21
But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
22
And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.
23
And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
24
And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. Lk 12:15-21;15
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16
And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17
And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
663. WORLDLY MINDED Ro 8:5-7,13; 5
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 12:2; 2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
664. BEING WORRIED Phili 4:6; 6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Mt 6:25; 25
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
665. FALSE WORSHIP Isa 1:13;13
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
666. LETTING THE SUN GO DOWN ON YOUR WRATH Eph 4:26; 26
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Heb 3:13;13
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
667. YOUNGER, NOT SUBMITTING TO THE ELDER 1 Pe 5:5;5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Closing Prayer; Thank You, Lord, for sending Jesus to die for our sin. Thank You that His blood has paid the full penalty for our sin and that the power of sin in our lives have been broken through Him. Thank You that Christ’s sacrifice reveals Your immense love for mankind – and for us. We just want to give You thanks and praise for this free gift of salvation that is open to whosoever will come. In Jesus’ name we pray, AMEN.
We can’t earn salvation; we are saved by God’s grace when we have faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. All you have to do is believe you are a sinner, that Christ died for your sins, and ask His forgiveness. Then turn from your sins—that’s called repentance. Jesus Christ knows you and loves you. What matters to Him is the attitude of your heart, your honesty. We suggest praying the following prayer to accept Christ as your Savior:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
