Opening Hymn; Praise the lord oh my soul by the Hillard ensemble.
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
Bless You Lord
And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
Yes, I will worship Your holy name
Lord, I’ll worship Your holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
Jesus, I will worship Your holy name
Worship Your holy name.
Opening prayer; Heavenly Father we hope that this service will inspire people to become your child if they are not already, or become a stronger child of yours, also that they have a better understanding of the covenant story. That they take it to heart and remember that the old covenant is no more by your words and your hands. That they also remember to praise you everyday. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Sermon about the old covenant for Sunday June 20, 2021
The Old Covenant law – the knowledge of sin
“What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made … the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” Galatians 3:21,24.
By the law is the knowledge of sin. Paul testifies that he would not have known sin except through the law, and that that sin through the commandment became exceedingly sinful. (Romans 7:7,13) But it was just this deep acknowledgement of sin that brought him to Christ and the revelation that he was crucified with Christ: “For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:19-20.
A shadow of things to come
The Old Covenant law could not bring about any inner transformation in a person’s life. It could only deal with the fruit of sin, the sins that were committed, but was powerless against the root of sin, the lusts of the flesh. (Romans 8:3) For example, the law said that we shall not commit adultery (the fruit of sin), but Jesus said, “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her [the root of sin] has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:27,28. This covetousness, or lust, is the root of sin, and giving in to it bears fruit (the act of adultery).
Jesus was speaking about a different kind of righteousness here, where the very root of sin was condemned, not only the fruit of giving in to these sinful lusts. The Old Covenant law also said, “You shall not covet …,” but here the law was powerless, and each year sacrifices had to be brought to atone for transgression of the law, so the people could receive forgiveness for their sins.
Galatians 3:21
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.
Romans 7:7
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, hI would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, i“You shall not covet.”
So we leaned how hard this old covenant was, and it was made hard by Jesus because he was trying to get them shipped for his coming. He wanted them to really understand t hen, because there was a real consequence for sin. There was a book written by Andy Stanley, and Andy Stanley wrote how the old covenant was obsolete, and ministers should not even be talking about anymore these days because it is obsolete. The article is interesting so we put it up for you to enjoy for this week so you could learn about the old covenant. Jesus made it obsolete, so we will not be talking about the old covenant anymore, but we will be talking about the old testament, because there are some important things you need to learn about it for these times. We agree that ministers should get off the old covenant and into the new, because the new is the most important for the end times. When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and for people that were alive then, he stated one of his last words; it is done. What he was talking about was the old covenant. For those who are interested in the article, you should go back and read it onsite. It will give you an understanding why it was hard to follow the law. This week coming we will be talking about the new covenant, and that is very relevant for this time. Those who were in bible study with the new testament this year should know a lot, and for those who were not in the study this year we will review some of the important information in the next week, but not in the same way, therefore you might want to go back and review the new testament at your leisure. We will be talking about the new covenant itself, and then after that review the old testament for near the end of time. There are some books that are appropriate for the end of time, and we will concentrate on them next week, or the week after next. We really want you to understand Jesus and his words, and the relationship you have with him if your are christian, and if you are not, we would like you to become, and we will talk about later how you could become.
Closing Hymn; Anointed by David Mullen
I watch the moon as it rises on your lovely face
I think of all the places you have yet to go
What a wonder, you will know in all the things yet to discover
Like the autumn colors with all your seasons changing in this world
I hung the moon there to shine upon your lovely face
I made the universe to dance when your heart sings
In hope that someday you would see my love uncovered
Like a long lost letter left to lead you home, never be alone
For I have made a promise and so it will be
This is a promise everlasting I belong to you and you to me
So ask me once again and it remains as it was to begin
A promise and a promise you cannot change, it remains the same
I color life like a painting on your heart and soul
I made the wonder and the mystery you dream of
And if that is not enough, I’ll never leave you
Of all the things I’ve promised you
Remember that love is for always and I will never change
For I have made a promise and so it will be
This is a promise everlasting I belong to you and you to me
So ask me once again and it remains as it was to begin
A promise and a promise you cannot change
So keep on watching, keep on waiting
Let your soul ignite and shine it like a candle in the night
So the promise never dies
Keep it alive
I have made a promise and so it will be
This is a covenant everlasting I belong to you and you to me
So ask me once again and it remains as it was to begin
A promise and a promise you cannot change.

A message of encouragement before the salvation prayer;
This is a salvation prayer to become a child of God. By saying this prayer we believe you are now a child of God, but you have to believe it in your heart for it to happen. Jesus will help you after you say this prayer through the rest of your lives. If you are not a child of God yet, but if you are he will help you become stronger. Please pray this prayer either way. We encourage you to.
For those who wish to become a child of our heavenly Lord, or strengthen thier faith, please pray the following prayer below.
