Wednesday: April 13, 2022
Holy Wednesday commemorates some very major events that preceded Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross. Today, the celebrations for this day are reading particular scriptures and singing hymns,
Acts 19:2
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
The verse above means this; not the special regenerating and sanctifying grace of the Holy Ghost, for that is supposed in their being disciples and believers, but the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost, for it follows,
Matthew 26: 14-16
14
Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
15
And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16
And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
The verse above means this;
There were but twelve called apostles, and one of them was like a devil; surely we must never expect any society to be quite pure on this side heaven.
1 Peter 1 15:16 Just As He Who Called You Is Holy, So Be Holy in All You Do; for It Is Written: “Be Holy, Because I Am Holy.”. Peace and Love Always”
The verse above means this: Always be mindful of your actions and how you talk in conversation.
Matthew 5:16 Let Your Light Shine Before Others, That They May See Your Good Deeds and Glorify Your Father in Heaven.
The verse above means this; By way of analogy, believers in Jesus are the lamps. In fact, they are the only source of true spiritual light, the light of Christ. That light is meant to be seen, so Jesus tells His disciples not to hide it or cover it up for any reason.
John 14:1 Do Not Let Your Hearts Be Troubled. You Believe in God; Believe Also in Me.
The verse above means this; this verse begins thus, and he said to his disciples; and certain it is, that these words are addressed to them in general,
Closing prayer; Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors…” On this Holy Wednesday, You forgiving us provides power to forgive others. We can take time today to consider those You’ve called us to reconcile. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
For those who wish to become a child of Our Heavenly Father or wish to be stronger in his eyes, please say the following prayer below.
Dear Heavenly Father, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
