Matthew 6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Lesson:
The Lord’s Prayer is a Christian prayer that asks for God’s guidance, forgiveness, and protection. It also asks for God’s will to be done on earth.
- Hallowed be thy name: To honor God by treating God as holy and living a holy life
- Thy kingdom come: To pray for God’s kingdom to come and for God’s will to be done on earth
- Give us today our daily bread: To ask God to provide for our daily needs
- Forgive us our sins: To ask for forgiveness for wrongdoings
- Lead us not into temptation: To ask for strength to resist temptation
- Deliver us from evil: To ask for protection from danger
Purpose
The Lord’s Prayer is a model for Christians to pray. It encourages Christians to cling to God’s will, to seek forgiveness, and to ask for God’s help. It also teaches the importance of forgiveness.
Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father we pray that all who read this learn how important the lord’s prayer is to remember and understand the meaning behind it. We pray this in the name of Our lord and savior.
Lord help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
