  • Revelation 1:7
“Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”

“Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. So it is to be,” is a significant verse that speaks directly about the second coming of Jesus Christ, depicting his majestic return to Earth where all people, including those who rejected him, will witness his arrival and mourn their actions.

John declares that every eye will see Jesus at the second coming. Also, the tribes of Israel will have undergone a national revival when Jesus comes again. There is no mention of such a revival before the rapture. John recalls what Zechariah had prophesied about Israel’s revival when Jesus comes to earth again.

  • The imagery of clouds:
In the Bible, clouds often symbolize God’s presence and glory. Here, Jesus is described as coming “with the clouds,” signifying his divine power and authority as he returns to Earth.
  • “Every eye will see him”:
This phrase emphasizes the universality of Jesus’ return, indicating that everyone, regardless of their faith or location, will witness his coming.
  • “Those who pierced him”:
This refers to the crucifixion of Jesus, where he was pierced by nails on the cross. The verse suggests that even those who were directly responsible for his death will witness his return and be confronted with their actions.
  • “All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him”:
This signifies a global recognition of Jesus’ divinity and the coming judgment, where those who rejected him will lament their decision.

    Second Coming vs. Rapture:
While some interpretations link this verse to the “Rapture” where believers are taken to heaven, most scholars understand it to refer specifically to the visible, physical return of Jesus to Earth
  • Judgment and restoration:
The verse suggests that Jesus’ return will be a moment of judgment for those who rejected him, but also a time of restoration and hope for the righteous.
  • Literary context:
This verse is part of the opening vision in Revelation, which sets the stage for the dramatic events that follow, highlighting the importance of Jesus’ ultimate victory over evil.

Christ will appear in great glory and majesty, the dead in Christ will be raised, Christ’s personal kingdom will take place, and the general judgment come on.The Lord
  • Jesus Christ was from eternity, a Witness to all the counsels of God. He is the First-born from the dead, who will by his own power raise up his people.
  • Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father Thank You that I have been saved by grace through faith in Christ and thank You that the wrath of God was poured out on Christ in my stead.
  • Lord help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
