Amen is a word that people frequently use at the end when they pray, but do they really know what they are saying?
The basic meaning of the Semitic root from which it is derived is “firm,” “fixed,” or “sure,” and the related Hebrew verb also means “to be reliable” and “to be trusted.” The Greek Old Testament usually translates amen as “so be it”; in the English Bible it has frequently been rendered as “verily,” or “truly.” The phrase so be it in terms of Our Heavenly Father means that you are praying for something to happen that way, or be that way. So even if you pray against something not of him not to happen, saying so be it is like saying for it to happen. This is one reason Amen is a tricky word and why it is not used much anymore. When you are praying in simple language you are praying to let it happen, but if you just say I ask this in the name of Our lord and savior at the end of the prayer, instead of Amen, it would be a lot better. We just thought we would point this out of what you are saying when you say Amen. It is sounding like something to happen or be that way. For example, you are praying on a subject of a horrible thing in your life, and if you put Amen at the end of the prayer you are telling the lord for it to happen and to be left alone. Remember, Our Heavenly Father states in the bible to be careful what you ask for, you might get it. So let us start changing the ending to in the name of Our lord and savior and then you may not get something you should not get or do not want.
Closing Prayer; Heavenly Father we pray that all who read this lesson learn from it and if they need help The Holy Spirit will help them. We wish that you will help everyone understand this so they can pray better to you and learn from you. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
Prayer of Salvation: Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior.Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
