Isaiah 50:4-9 50:4 The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.
50:5 The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears; I have not been rebellious, I have not turned away.
50:6 I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.
50:7 Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.
50:8 He who vindicates me is near. Who then will bring charges against me? Let us face each other! Who is my accuser? Let him confront me!
50:9 It is the Sovereign Lord who helps me. Who will condemn me? They will all wear out like a garment; the moths will eat them up.
Hebrews 12:1-3
12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
12:3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart
John 13:21-32 13:21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.
13:22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.
13:23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.
13:24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, Ask him which one he means.
13:25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, Lord, who is it?
13:26 Jesus answered, It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish. Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.
13:27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, What you are about to do, do quickly.
13:28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him.
13:29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor.
13:30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.
13:31 When he was gone, Jesus said, Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him.
13:32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once.
Holy Wednesday (also called Good Wednesday or Spy Wednesday).
In reference to Judas Iscariot’s intent to betray Jesus, formed on Holy Wednesday, the day is sometimes called “Spy Wednesday”. The word spy, as used in the term, means “ambush, ambuscade, snare”. Additionally, among the disciples, Judas clandestinely was a spy and Wednesday was the day he chose to betray Christ.
Hide 30 pieces of silver (dimes, nickels, quarters) around the house and the kids go on a spy hunt to find them. It’s finders-keepers. We talk about how in Holy Week leading up to Easter, Judas betrays Jesus by “ratting” out his location so the chief priests (Sanhedrin) can arrest Jesus.
Which is why the Wednesday of Holy Week is often called “Silent Wednesday.” Knowing He’s about to face deep, unfathomable suffering, on the cusp of the very end of His earthly life, Jesus quietly retreats into the silence and solitude of beautiful intimacy with His Father. Remember, Jesus was willing to give his life up for our sins. He would call a lot of angels down to stop it, but he wanted us to be able to live with him and our Heavenly Father. But many people will end up with the adversary if they do not straighten up and fly right. So we would like to encourage you to become a child of Our Heavenly Father.
Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father we thank you for your word today and the knowledge of silent Wednesday. For tonight Judas will strike a deal with your enemies to betray you. Tonight is said to be the night of traitors, of betrayers. O Lord, we hate being called traitors and betrayers, a Judas Iscariot. Help us to draw closer to you this holy week. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
This prayer below is also called the sinners prayer, and it gets people to
become a child of Our Heavenly Father or strengthens thier faith within him whenever they are already a child of Our Heavenly Father.
Prayer for salvation; Lord Jesus; Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior.Take
complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
