Matthew 11:28-30
11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
11:29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
11:30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
John 15:4-5
15:4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Lesson;
Jesus invited people who were “weary and heavily burdened to come to him and he would give them rest.” Jesus helps us to enter into rest when we give him our burdens.
Rest deepens our spiritual lives.
As Christians, rest is important not just for our physical and emotional well-being but for our spiritual lives as well. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
What is the meaning of spiritual rest and why is finding rest for our soul important? Spiritual rest is easy to overlook until we face the burnout of mental, emotional, or physical exhaustion. Worry, anxiety, anger, frustration, bitterness, unforgiveness, and stress burden our souls. Different from self-care, soul care restores our spirit, empowering us to experience peace and perseverance when we face challenges.
Both work and rest are clearly mandated in the Bible, which we can see in God’s own example, His commands, and the way He designed nature. While God made work part of our purpose in His creation, He also made sure to put a limit to our working hours. This requires a constant effort on the part of the believer to avoid disobedience and unbelief, which are the very things that caused the Israelites to fall short of God’s rest in the Promised Land Rest is an act of resistance to the empires and kingdoms of this world and within our own lives. It is an act of reclamation and an act of redemption in bringing God’s restoration to the world.
Here are 5 steps you can use to get enough rest for yourself.
Do you struggle to get enough rest?
- Step One: Call to Him During Sleepless Nights (Psalm 4) …
- Step Two: Trust God With Your Future (Psalm 16:1-2; 7-11) …
- Step Three: Allow Him To Lead You (Psalm 23) …
- Step Four: Give All Your Worries to Him (Psalm 127) …
- Step Five: Quiet Your Soul Before God (Psalm 131)
It is very important to watch your activities at work and at home so that you do rest some, do not get into sleep deprivation. That causes medical issues as long as you are in it as well as soul issues. This is why ideas are offered to get around that. As christians we should be going to Our Heavenly Father to ask him to help us.. Our Heavenly Father is our father, spiritually. He is kind enough to give you ways to get rest. Our bodies are like a machine, they eventually may conk out, they may be well alive but they will conk out, and if that happens you can have many side effects. So it is important to seek your Heavenly Father so you do not have a huge problem with your activity time. Sleep deprivation is a condition that occurs if you don’t get enough sleep. Sleep deficiency is a broader concept. It occurs if you have one or more of the following: You don’t get enough sleep (sleep deprivation) You sleep at the wrong time of day.
Symptoms of Sleep Deprivation, or signs you are headed to sleep deprivation. These are the most common signs.
Falling asleep when not intending to (e.g. reading the newspaper, watching TV.
Falling asleep quickly when going to bed.
Sleeping long hours on the weekend.
Taking naps.
Changes in the way you feel:
Feeling fatigued or lethargic throughout the day, yawning frequently.
Feeling irritable.
Therefore it is highly recommended that you do not get into sleep deprivation and many people do for various reasons. Some have breathing problems so they do not breath right, they want to just stay up, or stay up to work. Some have to take care of a family member and has to stay up at night and all day. This can lead to sleep deprivation if you are not careful. These are some of the common things that cause this. It can happen more with young people. They think it will not happen to them, and they do not listen or realize, and end up in sleep deprivation.
