Daniel as a background to Revelation
The Book of Daniel helps people that read the book of Revelation get its message. The first 6 chapters talk about why people end up being captured, and the rest deals with how Israel is reconstructed again. Daniel also received heavenly messages and interacted with angels.
Daniel was also given a lot of messages from heaven in dreams just like Appostle John. Revelation deals with a lot of oppression. It also talks about how a lot of the captives were judged.
Daniel and many other believer’s faith gets tested in this book. It can be a situation with food, being in a lot of heat, or even a lion’s den. The message given is a way to spiritually go against any idolatry. Many of the younger people that are jewish choose to obey many laws when it came to food sent by other leaders. As a result the health of these people remains in good standing. A king had a dream one time about a statue that had four sections in it. One area was the head which represented Babylon, a rock became a mountain. Two people Daniel knew very well had an experience with a furnace due to not wanting to worship other than Our Heavenly Father. They got protected supernaturally and rewarded by Babylon’s leaders. King Nebuchadnezzar did not like to worship Our Heavenly Father so he went through a lot of trials and tribulations in his life. Nabonidus was a leader in Babylon from 555 to 539 BCE. He had a lot of visions given to him also, but he would not go before Our Heavenly Father in a humble state.
Chapter 6 King Darius of Persia had a lot of respect for Daniel. He is called to help lead his kingdom. Many other leaders became jealous of this and made a law that if anyone prays to another leader or a human for a month would be ordered put to death.
Chapter 7 Daniel was always a faithful servant to Our Heavenly Father and sends many prayers to him. As a result of this he is put into a den. Our Heavenly Father protects Daniel and he makes it through. Daniel eventually had a dream. He tried to make sense of it, but an angel came to help. Four creatures that are beast like come around and they are suspected of being from a statue that was destroyed. The creatures represented were a lion, bear, leopard, and a beast with many horns. Some of it looks like a leader that was against Israel at one time and Our Heavenly Father.
The people are led by something that represents the son of man is not an argument in the gospel. Jesus is accepted by ascending to heaven. Jesus is seen also as a remnant of Israel. The people of God always remember not to lose hope if going through persecution. They are also taught to resist all temptation. Any suffering can be the result of rebelling. Daniel had another vision that was of two other kings. The animals that represent them are rams and goats. They also represent Greece and Persia. Daniel had asked for the vision to remain a secret.
Daniel was also telling about other visions he saw about people in Israel being put into Exile. People did not repent of any sin in thier lives so it showed how they were punished for it.
Daniel also recalls an experience he had with a man all dressed in white clothes and his eyes were like a torch. Daniel did not know what to say after that, but that he recalls getting a lot of stregnth and was in a fight with a leader in Persia. He was told in the vision about the future of Israel. Eventually Greece ends up in a war with Persia.
Many of the things discussed in the Torah talk about the relationship with the community and Our Heavenly Father. Poeple that know him act differently than people that do not.
This messenger tells Daniel that even though the exile is prolonged, there is good news. An exceptionally. Michael called angel mighty “who is like God,” was appointed to fight for the people of Israel during the days of trouble.
The reign of the beast
There was a beast with a lot of horns and a dark look that used to be a problem to people in Israel. The beast is later killed and Daniel describes this to many people that believe and follow Jesus.
Daniel 7:13-14 7:13 I was gazing into the visions of the night, when I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, as it were a son of man. He came to the One most venerable and was led into his presence.
7:14 On him was conferred rule, honour and kingship, and all peoples, nations and languages became his servants. His rule is an everlasting rule which will never pass away, and his kingship will never come to an end.
Daniel was trying to describe what was going on in the vision so he asked if an angel could help what the 15th and 16th verse said.
7:17 “These four great beasts are four kings who will rise up from the earth.
7:18 Those who receive royal power are the holy ones of the Most High, and kingship will be theirs for ever, for ever and ever.”
The vision also talks about how the son of man possesses the kingdom forever.
Daniel 7:21-22 7:21 This was the horn I had watched making war on the holy ones and proving the stronger,
7:22 until the coming of the One most venerable who gave judgement in favour of the holy ones of the Most High, when the time came for the holy ones to assume kingship.
Daniel 7:23-24 7:23 This is what he said: “The fourth beast is to be a fourth kingdom on earth, different from all other kingdoms. It will devour the whole world, trample it underfoot and crush it.
7:24 As for the ten horns: from this kingdom will rise ten kings, and another after them; this one will be different from the previous ones and will bring down three kings;
One of the beasts is thought to have been Alexander the great. It might have also been someone that was part of the Maccabees that was celebrating Hanukkah. The beast that was in Rome was described as having 10 horns, and was a part of history in the Roman Empire. The list of people in theses kingdoms in Roman history are the Medes, Assyrians, and other powers such as scythians, and Parthamans, and Elamites. This later would cause the fall of Babylon.
Daniel 7:25 He will insult the Most High, and torment the holy ones of the Most High. He will plan to alter the seasons and the Law, and the Saints will be handed over to him for a time, two times, and half a time.
Closing Prayer;Heavenly Father, how amazing and gracious that You would tell us the end from the beginning. Thank You that You loved Your fallen creation so much, that You would give Your only begotten Son to suffer so cruelly on the Cross to save humanity from their sin – such that whosoever believes on Him would not perish but receive everlasting life. Thank You that my sin was judged at the Cross. We pray that many who are blinded by Satan, the deceiving god of this age, would have their eyes open to the truth of the glorious gospel of grace, and be saved by faith. We ask this in Jesus’ precious name, AMEN.
Prayer of Salvation to become a child of Our Heavenly Father. Lord Jesus, we confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
