In chapter 14 the kingdom for the adversary might become stronger. Not many people will be able to repent and there will be only anger. There is a soldier that is on a mountain in the city of Zion. It is a place that is the spot for Our Heavenly Father. Appostle John at one time heard a harp playing and this was a signal to prepare for a battle and march in unity. An angel sounded an alarm to help warn against an adversary trying to pass off as Our Heavenly Father.
The message given to the fear of Our Heavenly Father alone is called the eternal gospel.
Revelation 14:8 A second angel followed him, calling, ‘Babylon has fallen, Babylon the Great has fallen, Babylon which gave the whole world the wine of retribution to drink.’
Many battles are fought in many lands and feilds. But being victorious is only possible when other leaderships are brought down in other cities. Appostle John and his people think likely of thier own capital city. Babylon is known for being a model for sin. It causes people to go away from Our Heavenly Father. It also shows how a dominant behavior can cause something to either collapse, or stand strong.
Revelation 14:9-10 14:9 A third angel followed, shouting aloud, ‘All those who worship the beast and his statue, or have had themselves branded on the hand or forehead,
14:10 will be made to drink the wine of God’s fury which is ready, undiluted, in his cup of retribution; in fire and brimstone they will be tortured in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb.
Those who shared in the beast getting credit for things will share in the sin and shame. Any repentance chances had not been paid attention to.
Revelation 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say to me, ‘Write down: Blessed are those who die in the Lord! Blessed indeed, the Spirit says; now they can rest for ever after their work, since their good deeds go with them.’
The book of Revelation helps with a lot of protection. A lot of spiritual wars are going on, and any physical issues will happen, but having a strong faith will help with security.
Revelation 14:14-16 14:14 Now in my vision I saw a white cloud and, sitting on it, one like a son of man with a gold crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.
14:15 Then another angel came out of the sanctuary and shouted at the top of his voice to the one sitting on the cloud, ‘Ply your sickle and reap: harvest time has come and the harvest of the earth is ripe.’
14:16 Then the one sitting on the cloud set his sickle to work on the earth, and the harvest of earth was reaped.
A person was getting ready to reap a good harvest. Most crowns is a common reward in that time.
A human figure was getting
his sickle ready for the
harvest. The crown is not a
symbol of royal authority
but probably of the
priesthood. On occasion, the
priests in the Jerusalem
temple harvested crops and
brought new produce as
gifts on the altar. A “sickle”
depanon ) is a
curved tool used for
harvesting.
Harvest time is where things are made whole. It is more about ancient Hebrew, but it is more so about receiving rewards.
In 4 Ezra, the
dead are depicted as patiently waiting
in Hades/Sheol to be released and
receive what is owed to them. In
Revelation, evil has run its course; the
time is ripe, hence the harvest.
28 For the evil about which you ask me has been sown,
but the harvest of it has not yet come. 29 If therefore that
which has been sown is not reaped…
33 Then I answered
and said, “How long and when will these things be? Why
are our years few and evil?” 34 He answered me and said,
“You do not hasten faster than the Most High, for your
haste is for yourself, but the Highest hastens on behalf of
many. 35 Did not the souls of the righteous in their
chambers ask about these matters, saying, ‘How long are
we to remain here? And when will come the harvest of
our reward?’ 36 And Yeremiel the archangel answered
them and said, ‘When the number of those like yourselves
is completed; for he has weighed the age in the balance,
37 and measured the times by measure, and numbered
the times by number; and he will not move or arouse
them until that measure is fulfilled.’” (4 Ezra 4:28-37).
Revelation 14:17-20 14:17 Another angel, who also carried a sharp sickle, came out of the temple in heaven,
14:18 and the angel in charge of the fire left the altar and shouted at the top of his voice to the one with the sharp sickle, ‘Put your sickle in, and harvest the bunches from the vine of the earth; all its grapes are ripe.’
14:19 So the angel set his sickle to work on the earth and harvested the whole vintage of the earth and put it into a huge winepress, the winepress of God’s anger,
14:20 outside the city, where it was trodden until the blood that came out of the winepress was up to the horses’ bridles as far away as sixteen hundred furlongs.
The angels work as servants in heaven. One has a job of harvesting a lot of grapes. A form of the judgement of Our Heavenly Father is not a form of juice but blood. It is 6ft deep about and 200 miles.
7 plagues and 7 bowels
Chapter 15 begins with
another heavenly sign.
Seven angels of God are
administering God’s
judgment, dispensing the
seven plagues of his wrath.
Revelation 15:1“Then I saw another
sign in heaven, great
and marvelous, seven
angels who had seven
plagues, [which are]
the last, because in
them the wrath of God.
Many angels have different jobs, at least 7 of them. They help with a court in heaven. They also address the assemblies that meet as well. Appostle John and other servants have a song about Moses.
Revelation 15:5-6 15:5 After this, in my vision, the sanctuary, the tent of the Testimony, opened in heaven,
15:6 and out came the seven angels with the seven plagues, wearing pure white linen, fastened round their waists with belts of gold.
Judgments are rendered and
administered from the Heavenly Temple
because it is not just a place of worship
but also God’s court and throne room.
When the temple opens, one of the four
living creatures hands the seven
archangels bowls full of God’s wrath,
and the temple becomes filled with the
smoke of incense.
Revelation 16: 1-2 16:1 Then I heard a loud voice from the sanctuary calling to the seven angels, ‘Go, and empty the seven bowls of God’s anger over the earth.’
16:2 The first angel went and emptied his bowl over the earth; at once, on all the people who had been branded with the mark of the beast and had worshipped its statue, there came disgusting and virulent sores.
The bowls poured out (Rev. 16:3-8) are different types
of judgments for varieties of evil deeds. The seven
bowls of God’s righteous wrath are connected to the
divine answer to the prayers of the holy ones for
vindication. This connection is confirmed by the verbal
similarity between the “golden bowls full of the wrath”
Revelation 16:10 The fifth angel emptied his bowl over the throne of the beast and its whole empire was plunged into darkness. People were biting their tongues for pain,
“And
I saw [coming] out of the mouth of
the dragon, and out of the mouth of
the beast, and out of the mouth of the
false prophet, three unclean spirits
like frogs; for they are spirits of
demons, performing signs, which go
out to the kings of the entire world,
to gather them together for the war
of the great day of God, the
Almighty… And they gathered them
together to the place which in
Hebrew is called Har-Magedon
(Armageddon).” (Rev. 16:13-16).
The ancient city of “Megiddo” which likely
means “to invade.” This “mountain of invasion,”
therefore, may be understood as an ancient defense
position against invading enemy forces.
“And there were flashes of lightning and
sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a
great earthquake, such as there had not been
since mankind came to be upon the earth…
The great city was split into three parts, and
the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the
great was remembered in the sight of God, to
give her the cup of the wine of His fierce
wrath…” (Rev. 16:18-19)
When God “remembers,” one can assume that his
action could be seen as long overdue. He acts and
sometimes brings salvation and other times
judgment.
Closing prayer; Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and that You have told us what will happen before it happens so that we will believe. May I read, mark, and learn from all You have told me in the book of Revelation and may I be guided by the Holy Spirit into all truth. But above all, as I read this book, I pray that Jesus would be revealed to me, more and more, and I would know Him more clearly, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more nearly, all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN.
Prayer of Salvation to become a child of Our Heavenly Father. Lord Jesus, we confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
