To have the horn “exalted” denotes prosperity and triumph ( Psalms 89:17 Psalms 89:24 ). To “lift up” the horn is to act proudly ( Zechariah 1:21 ). Horns are also the symbol of royal dignity and power ( Jeremiah 48:25 ; Zechariah 1:18 ; Daniel 8:24 ).
This metaphor of the “exalted horn” comes from an image of a bull lifting up its horns after winning a battle. The raised horn is a common biblical symbol of victory, especially of being rescued from oppression. ), and when God “exalts the horn” of someone, he is bringing victory to the oppressed.

Closing Prayer; O Gracious God, we pause each day as we anticipate the birth of the Christ child. Often, we feel inadequate to receive such love. It’s the most beautiful love story of all time. We thank you for appearing to us in the fragile form of a child so that we are reminded that love comes in all shapes and sizes. You are a generous God. Call us into a season of deep reflection, and each time we get caught up in the holiday stress, invite us back into a moment of silence with you to reset our priorities. We humble our hearts before you not only this day but each day and forevermore. Amen.
