Opening Hymn: Thank you soldiers by Kings Peak Creations:

When I lay my head down every night And go to sleep in peace, I can stay there knowing all is well While you’re standing on your feet. Keeping watch, protecting shore to shore In the air and oceans, too. Defending freedom at all cost, For the red, white and the blue. CHORUS Thank you, Oh thank you Men and women, brave and strong, To those who served so gallantly We sing this grateful song. To the soldiers who have traveled on to countries far and near In peace and war you paid the price For the cause you hold so dear. That we may wake each morning bright And know that freedom rings Because of your great sacrifice Your country joins to sing… CHORUS (twice) Thank you, Oh thank you Men and women, brave and strong, To those who served so gallantly We sing this grateful song

Sermon:

  • Sacrifice and service
The Bible emphasizes the value of service and sacrifice, and veterans exemplify these values by putting their lives on the line for their country.
  • Gratitude and thankfulness
The Bible encourages people to be thankful and express gratitude, and Veterans Day is a day to show appreciation veterans for their service and sacrifice.
  • Promoting peace
Veterans contribute to the cause of peace by defending their nation and its values
  • Unity and brotherhood
The military is a place where people from different backgrounds come together to protect the nation, Whimirrors Christ’s teaching to love neighbors as ourselves.
  • Christ’s sacrifice
The imperfect sacrifice of veterans points to the perfect sacrifice of Christ.
     Our Heavenly Father
has established an authority structure, and the military is a part of that. So today, thank someone who has protected our freedoms as a member of the United States military. And thank God that they have put themselves in harm’s way for us all.  Tuesday could be considered the “second day” when God separated the waters from the sky, creating the expanse of the heavens, making it a day about establishing order and division between different parts of the world; essentially, a day where God started to organize the planet. On Wednesday, Christians remember the betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot. This day is traditionally a fast day, and is also known as Spy Wednesday, Good Wednesday, or Holy Wednesday.

The name Wednesday comes from the god Woden, who is similar to the Roman god Mercury.Thursday is called yom cha•mi•shee, which means “the fifth day”. On the fifth day of creation, God filled the waters with living creatures and birds, and created crocodiles.

The name Thursday comes from the god Thunor, or Thunresdæg, which means “the day of Thunder.

Also known as Maundy Thursday, this day commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ and the washing of his disciples’ feet. The Last Supper is when Jesus established the sacrament of Holy Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper or communion. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as an act of “servant leadership” to show them how to love one another.

  • Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday, a day of reflection, repentance, and fasting. It’s a day to remember the suffering of Jesus and to show solidarity with him. Good Friday is also a day to remember the triumph of good over evil, and to look forward to the joy of Easter Sunday.
Good Friday is a Christian holy day observing the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum. Saturdays are considered sacred, designated as a day for introspection, meditation, and connecting with higher consciousness. The alignment of Saturn’s energy on Saturdays aligns with this notion, making it an ideal time for seeking spiritual growth and enlightenment.

Closing Hymn: Where charity and love prevail by Faith United Methodist church.

Where charity and love prevail, there God is ever found; brought here together by Christ’s love, by love are we thus bound. With grateful joy and holy fear true charity we learn; let us with heart and mind and strength now love Christ in return. Forgive we now each other’s faults as we our faults confess; and let us love each other well in Christian holiness. Let strife among us be unknown, let all contention cease; be Christ the glory that we seek, be ours his holy peace. Let us recall that in our midst dwells God’s begotten Son; as members of his body joined, we are in him made one. Love can exclude no race or creed, if honored be God’s name; our common life embraces all whose Maker is the same.

Closing Prayer: May every day of this blessed week be under the watchful eyes of the Almighty, protecting and guiding you”.  In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.

Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
