  • 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come”
  • Isaiah 43:18-19: “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”

  • Ephesians 4:22-24: “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness”
  • Psalm 37:4: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart”
  • Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed”

A Bible Story Lesson for a New year –
Those who were there: Simeon & Anna
By Bible study. The wonder of the Christmas Bible story doesn’t have to stop as we enter a new year!  It can continue to bring peace and hope to our hearts even in the midst of the unknown and confusing.

Sometimes the sense of wonder can be found again when we allow ourselves to “wonder.”  And maybe there are a few characters we have overlooked like Simeon and Anna.  Characters that can point us to Jesus and the hope found in Him alone.

The holidays can be the hardest for so many people. This Bible Story lesson is meant to bring hope into lives that may be wondering if God has forgotten. It is a reminder to all of us that God is faithful no matter what we may see with our eyes or feel with our hearts.

Most will probably end with the Wisemen or before.  Let them know that today we’re going to take the Christmas Bible Story a little farther to two people who had waited all their lives to meet the Messiah.  But first we’ll have to go backwards before we go forwards to clearly see God’s faithfulness.

  • Closing Prayer:
  • “Lord, whether I leave behind a year of joy or of trials and difficulties, I pause to give thanks. Thank you for making all things new and for giving me the grace of fresh starts and new beginnings. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
  • Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
