Psalm 27:5: For in the day of trouble, he will keep me safe in the shelter of his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tent; he will set me high upon a rock.
Psalm 32:7: You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
Psalm 36:7: How precious is your steadfast, unfailing love, O God! The people take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Psalm 68:4-5: Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him—his name is the Lord. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.
Isaiah 25:4: For You have been a refuge for the helpless, a defense for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm, and a shade from the heat.
Lesson:
Shelter, in the Bible, symbolizes much more than physical protection. At its core, it represents Divine Protection, suggesting the myriad ways God safeguards individuals from harm. This protection transcends physicality; it includes the promise of emotional wellbeing, spiritual guidance, and eternal life. Psalm 91 :: NIV. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. In terms of practicality, the “shelter” God provides may come in the form of another person’s help — a job lead, a contrite heart, an apology. However it arrives, trust that if He’s provided it, relief will follow. We need only step out in faith, honoring and obeying through our actions. Shelter separates people from their surroundings. It provides a place for families to cook, eat, sleep, and raise their children. It protects them from extreme temperatures, strong winds, and storms. Shelter provides privacy and safety from human and animal enemies. Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. When the psalmist identifies God as his God in the last expression, it is a way of saying that the shelter, shadow, refuge, and fortress are for those who really do dwell in God and trust Him. Spurgeon wrote, “The blessings here promised are not for all believers, but for those who live in close fellowship with God. God is our refuge, our safe place, our retreat, the place we go when we are afraid. And there is a lot of fear going around. God is also our strength or “power.” This is the same word that Jesus uses in in Acts 1:8 when he promises to give us “power” with the coming of the Holy Spirit who now lives within us. If God is your keeper, he is “your shade on your right hand” (Psalm 121:5), meaning no one is nearer to you than the one who keeps you. Nothing can come between you and your God.
Closing prayer; Heavenly Father You are a shelter and strong tower for those who need refuge. We thank You for your enduring grace that covers those who cannot take care of themselves. We thank you in the name of Our lord and savior.
Prayer for renewing faith
Heavenly Father, I’m asking You to give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to receive Your correction and guidance, as I seek a faith revolution in my life—a dramatic turnaround in my thinking, believing, speaking and acting. I ask You to give me the strength to hold strong in the days ahead.
SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus; Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
