6) Ask Our heavenly Father for help.
Reading the Bible will help your child know who Our Heavenly Father is. Spending time in the word teaches children about Our Heavenly Father’s character and communicates His deep love for them. Knowing Our Heavenly Father nurtures trust and a relationship with Him. Trusting Our Heavenly Father leads to a life of obedience to Him. Second, giving children Scriptures to memorize helps them understand Our Heavenly Father’s will for their lives and how they fit into His bigger picture. Our Heavenly Father cares about what’s in children’s hearts and minds. He knows about the different things trying to grab their attention and their love. How do you teach children the importance of reading the Bible.
Mark 10:13-16. People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Children learn to love the sound of language before they even notice the existence of printed words on a page. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. Even without Bible reading aids, a child can start off by reading one of the Gospels. The Gospel of Mark is the shortest. The Gospel of Luke is more detailed and flows naturally into the book of Acts.“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” Ephesians 6:4. It’s diligently teaching the scriptures to your children. But really by the age of nine children should be at a reading level where they’re able to read longer passages of scripture independently and where they have the attention span to be able to sit down for between five and 10 minutes to read scripture, think through it, do some basic journaling, and then praying through. Note; this also depends on how the children are, some children would like to do this at a younger age. Just wanted you to be aware of that.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, anoint us with your Holy Spirit, so that as I read your eternal word, your word may penetrate my whole being and transform me. Grant me the blessing to be a faithful disciple in believing the Word of God and that I may be a light shining upon all who are in darkness. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
Prayer for renewing faith
Heavenly Father, I’m asking You to give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to receive Your correction and guidance, as I seek a faith revolution in my life—a dramatic turnaround in my thinking, believing, speaking and acting. I ask You to give me the strength to hold strong in the days ahead.
Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
