Proverbs 9:8 KJV Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
Proverbs 8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
James 4:6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: ‘God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.’
1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.'”
Lesson:
Narcissism can be viewed as the epitome of sin, as individuals choose to be their own gods, seeking self-worship and control. The book of Proverbs addresses this concept by referring to narcissistic behaviors as foolishness. The fool makes his own rules, scoffs at rebuke, and disregards the harm his actions may cause. Spiritual narcissism is what happens when a person mistakenly lets their spiritual or religious practice go to their head and think it makes them superior to others. A spiritual narcissist may seek validation and praise for their actions, might lack empathy, and isn’t likely to take responsibility for their mistakes.Narcissist hold themselves above others, hold others in contempt, etc. They are the cause of much strife. They refuse correction: God is everything the narcissist ever wants to be: omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, admired, much discussed, and awe inspiring. God is the narcissist’s wet dream, his ultimate grandiose fantasy. But God comes handy in other ways as well. The narcissist alternately idealizes and devalues figures of authority.
Pharaoh had a hard heart (and some narcissistic traits), and despite the prayers of the Israelites that Pharaoh would submit to God, he never did. Instead, he was used by God for a purpose – for the good of God’s people and for God’s glory. You are a valuable child of God, “A royal priesthood belonging to God” (1 Peter 2:9). Now, while this is true for you, it is also true for the narcissist (hard to swallow, I know). Jesus’s love, forgiveness, mercy, AND truth does not discriminate. It is for all (John 3:16).What Does a Narcissist Crave? Narcissists crave attention, admiration, and validation above all else. Narcissists lie effortlessly and are very convincing because they lack normal human emotions or inhibitions. They are insensitive and bored, lack the willingness to show empathy for others, and feel neither shame nor remorse. This coldness of feeling also allows them to lie with minimal inhibitions. Someone with NPD or narcissistic behaviors is unlikely to do things like apologize or sing your praises without it being self-serving. Narcissism can be a personality trait and a mental health disorder, and someone can have narcissistic tendencies without being labeled a “narcissist
Narcissists are often skilled at hiding their true nature behind a facade of charm and charisma. However, God can help unveil this deceit, revealing the narcissist’s true character. This unveiling can often come in the form of uncovered lies or manipulative behavior.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, would You fill me with your love and presence until I am overflowing. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, envelop me and guard my heart and mind. You did not give me a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. I pray for the restoration of my sound mind. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
Prayer for renewing faith
Heavenly Father, I’m asking You to give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to receive Your correction and guidance, as I seek a faith revolution in my life—a dramatic turnaround in my thinking, believing, speaking and acting. I ask You to give me the strength to hold strong in the days ahead.
Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
