Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Lean on me by Gary Methena
Verse 1
When no one cared about me if I should live or die, and no one bothered asking why I’d go alone and cry. When burdens got so heavy that I could not face the day, then I’d feel His arms around me and I’d hear Him gently say,
Chorus
“Lean on Me when you have no strength to stand. When you feel you’re goin’ under, hold tighter to my hand. Lean on me when your heart begins to bleed when you come to the place that I’m all you have, then you’ll find I’m all you need.
Verse 2
When the road ahead seems rugged and the path is getting steep, I feel that I can’t make it and my heart begins to weep. Then I turn to see who’s comin’ to join me in the way, and I see that it’s my Savior and I hear Him gently say,
Chorus
“Lean on Me when you have no strength to stand. When you feel you’re goin’ under, hold tighter to my hand. Lean on me when your heart begins to bleed when you come to the place that I’m all you have, then you’ll find I’m all you need.
Chorus
“Lean on Me when you have no strength to stand. When you feel you’re goin’ under, hold tighter to my hand. Lean on me when your heart begins to bleed when you come to the place that I’m all you have, then you’ll find I’m all you need.
I’m all you need.
The message of Lean On Me is that helping others in their time of need isn’t just selfless charity. It’s in our own interest. Withers wrote the song in the form of a direct appeal to a friend: Call on me when you need a hand, “For it won’t be long, ‘Til I’m gonna need, Somebody to lean on.” The reason for the Hymn lean on me is because Our lord and savior wants you to lean on him in a hard time.
Bill Withers’ childhood in the coal mining town of Slab Fork, West Virginia, was the inspiration for “Lean on Me”, which he wrote after he had moved to Los Angeles, and found himself missing the strong community ethic of his hometown. He had lived in a decrepit house in the poor section of his town.
Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father we pray that all who read this realize that they need to lean on you when they cannot do for themselves. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
Prayer for renewing faith
Heavenly Father, I’m asking You to give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to receive Your correction and guidance, as I seek a faith revolution in my life—a dramatic turnaround in my thinking, believing, speaking and acting. I ask You to give me the strength to hold strong in the days ahead.
Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
