Ephesians 1:11-23. Churches often use today—All Saints’ Day—as a time to remember those who have died in the past year.
Psalm 34:1-10,22 his praise shall ever be in my mouth. let the humble hear and rejoice. let us exalt his Name together. and delivered me out of all my terror.
1 Corinthians, Paul calls all Believers “saints”: “To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, the called saints, with all those who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, who is theirs and ours.
All Saints Day is a Christian holiday that honors all saints, both known and unknown, who have attained heaven. It is celebrated on November 1 in Western churches and on the first Sunday after Pentecost in Eastern churches. All Saints Day is a day to remember that Christians are in communion with all who have gone before them, especially those who have lived holy lives but are not canonized as saints. The day is a time to let the lives of the saints inspire people to cleanse their hearts and tongues, and to live and walk by faith.
Nov. 1 is All Saints Day, a feast day observing the lives of the many saints for whom there is no specific feast day during the year.On the Solemnity of All Saints, November 1, the Church celebrates those Christians who achieved spiritual maturity. It is a day to venerate all the holy men and women who have been canonized by the Church. So we honor the saints in heaven on All Saints Day and pray for those en route on All Souls Day, reaffirming the spiritual connections between the Church Triumphant in heaven, the Church Suffering in purgatory, and the Church Militant here on earth. In its most basic sense, a saint is a “holy one,” someone who is set apart for God’s special purposes. As a result, every follower of Jesus Christ is a saint. All Saints’ reminds us that all of us are members of the body of Christ, joined together in joys and sorrows. Furthermore, we are the body of Christ for the world. Some theologians drive this point home by speaking of the church not merely the body of Christ, but the continuation of the incarnation. In fact, even Christian who do not believe in official canons of saints like those churches, still believe in the saints. Evangelical, Baptist, LDS … all believe in the saints, they just don’t have a devotional tradition or single out specific saints, rather focus on the whole communion of saints.
All Saints’ Day, also known as All Hallows’ Day, the Feast of All Saints, the Feast of All Hallows, the Solemnity of All Saints, and Hallowmas, is a Christian solemnity celebrated in honour of all the saints of the Church, whether they are known or unknown.
Closing Prayer:
- Heavenly Father, have mercy, and wipe away our tears. As you have sustained your saints through centuries of service, keep us faithful, here and now, until your will is done on earth as it is in heaven; in the name of Our lord and savior we pray.
Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
