Lesson:
In the Bible, a horn is a symbol of God’s victorious power, abundance, and the royal oil of the Spirit. In the context of Christmas, the “horn of salvation” refers to Jesus Christ, who is the Messiah, Son of David, and Son of God.The expression “horn of salvation,” applied to Christ, means a salvation of strength, or a strong Saviour ( Luke 1:69 ). To have the horn “exalted” denotes prosperity and triumph ( Psalms 89:17 Psalms 89:24 ).The legend of the Krampus dates back centuries, originating as a German Christmas tradition during the 12th century. Beginning in early December, the children of Germany would begin to hear whispers of a dark haired creature bearing horns and fangs, carrying a bundle of birch sticks used to swat naughty children. So the ‘horn of salvation’ (Ps. 18: 2) indicates the saving power of the king. The four horns on the corners of altars (Exod. 27: 2) afforded sanctuary to a fugitive who clung to them. When David says in Psalm 19:2 that God was the horn of his salvation, he was declaring that it was God who had won the war. It was God that fought his battle. It was God that delivered David from his enemies. Just like God fought for David, He did and continues to do the same for me.The raised horn
A raised horn is a common symbol of victory, especially when it represents being rescued from oppression. When God “exalts the horn” of someone, it means he is bringing victory to the oppressed.
- The Lamb’s seven horns
In Revelation 5:6, the Lamb’s seven horns represent his perfect power. - The horns of the altar
The horns of the altar were made of acacia wood overlaid with brass and were located at the four corners of the altar. Fugitives could cling to the horns for asylum. The horns were also touched with sacrificial blood on certain occasions. - The word “horn”
The word “horn” is often used metaphorically to signify strength and honor. For example, the horn of the unicorn is a frequent representative of strength.
Horns are mentioned in various places in the Word, in which places they mean the power of truth which springs from good, and in the contrary ..
- Closing Prayer Heavenly Father, let my horn be lifted above the horns of my contemporaries, in the name of Jesus. O Lord, empower my horn to break the horns of my adversaries, in the name of Jesus. Let all that heaven has in store for me at this time come to me without any struggle. In the name of our lord and savior we pray.
- Lord Jesus take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
