Raynette K. Weiss Ministries run by Rev. Raynette K. Weiss and Assistant Minister Jessie K. Weiss invite you to this Lesson on the book of proverbs chapters 6 to 11. Friday September 23, 2022.

The Bible – Proverbs 9

1

Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

2

She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

3

She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

4

Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

5

Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

6

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

7

He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

8

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

9

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

11

For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

12

If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

13

A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

14

For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

15

To call passengers who go right on their ways:

16

Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

17

Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

18

But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

Summary; God feeds righteous people, but lets wicked people starve. A lazy hand leads to poverty, but a busy hand makes you rich—and in the same way, this is true for a child who gathers crops, and one who sleeps during the harvest. Basically, laziness is bad, but being industrious is good. The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes  a glad father, but a foolish son is the grief of his mother. This verse opens a new, different section, following parental appeals in chapters 1–9, with a proverb observing the effect on parents of the wisdom or folly of their child.

closing prayer; Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise counsel of Christian brothers and sisters that You have placed in our life, to give us godly guidance and wise instruction. May we be willing to listen to their advice and we pray that You would confirm the guidance we receive in Your Word and through Your Holy Spirit. Use us, we pray, to offer wise advice to others, and to be ready and willing to respond to Your leading and guiding in every area of our life. This we ask in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

those who wish to become a child of our Heavenly Father or wish to be stronger in his eyes, please say the following prayer below.

Heavenly Father: I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
