Romans 14:19 we are admonished to do those things that lead to peace and mutual edification. One of the things that will lead to peace and mutual edification in a world of negativity is a positive attitude.
Proverbs 17:22: “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
1 Corinthians 5:11 “But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one.”
Matthew 6:34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Titus 3:10 “If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them.”
1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
Isaiah 26:3 “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
Somehow America anger and negativity have become ingrained in the culture. Unfortunately, negative attitudes are like COVID-19; they are infectious. On the other hand, good attitudes are also infectious. Consequently, as followers of Christ, it is important that we “infect” the people we interact with—friends and strangers—with a positive attitude. In a world darkened by negativity, you and I can show others the light of Christ; the only real cure for negative attitudes. If you find yourself burdened by negativity, remember the words of Proverbs 17:22: “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
WHAT IS A POSITIVE ATTITUDE?
A positive attitude is easy to recognize. Even people who cannot define the concept know a positive attitude when they see one. A positive attitude is one that reflects the image of Christ for the people we interact with. But how do we reflect the image of Christ in our daily lives? Here are some practical ways you an “infect” others with your positive attitude in the midst of negativity:
- Focus on the positive in all situations, not the negative
- Expect a positive outcome when dealing with problems
- Associate with positive people instead of perpetually negative people
- Concentrate on solutions rather than problems
- Look for lessons in the mistakes and successes of others as well as your own
- Take a can-do approach to new challenges
- Take the initiative in all situations
- Take a proactive approach to all aspects of your life
- Turn bad situations into teachable moments
- Provide calm and reason in the middle of the storms of life that inevitably arise
It is not easy to be positive all the time, especially if you are the one they are talking about, but if you follow these steps on the page, it will make it easier. If you get into the bible more even if audio it can help get things down into your heart. For those of us who have grown up with Our Heavenly Father from a young age it is easy, but it is a bit hard sometimes. In fact we know someone that got in with the Lord later in life, but does encourage people to get in with him. If you ask Our Heavenly Father to be positive most of the time, he will help you. There is something Our Heavenly Father uses, so when you pray everything wrong can become right, but we will talk about that in the next lesson.
closing Prayer; Heavenly Father we pray for all who read this, that they get rid of all negativity that they are engaged in by accident, or because they do not know that they will learn to be more positive in their lives, and come to you as a child that do not know you, and if they do know you, come to you in a stronger way. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
those who wish to become a child of our Heavenly Father or wish to be stronger in his eyes, please say the following prayer below.
Heavenly Father: I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.”
