Opening Hymn; Joshua fought the battle of Jericho by African American Spirituals;

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho.
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho,
and the walls came tumbling down.

1 You may talk about the men of Gideon;
you may talk about the men of Saul;
there’s none like good old Joshua,
at the battle of Jericho. (Refrain)

2 Up to the walls of Jericho
he marched with sword in hand.
“Go blow those ram’s horns,” Joshua cried,
“for the battle is in God’s hands.” (Refrain)

3 Then the horns began to bellow,
the trumpets began to sound,
and Joshua commanded the children to shout,
and the walls came tumbling down. (Refrain)

Sermon; The story of Joshua and how important it is to obey the commands of Our Heavenly Father and have a good relationship with him.

Joshua obeyed a command of Our Heavenly Father of breaking the people of Israel into many tribes, and giving them each a household. The reason for all this happening was because the leader of Judah had gotten something out of Jericho without permission.

Joshua was highly recommended to help with the leadership of the city of AI. People make it look not very neat at times. There were things that the people in Gibeon did not tell each other about; one of which was the distance they lived between each other. Due to all the times the people served Our Heavenly Father faithfully, a lot of grace and favor was given. The Gibeonites believe in making peace with the people of Israel this causes them to be attacked by other countries. Joshua did all he could to help with making things calm down. The biggest battle that was faced by Israel was with sin. Our Heavenly Father was always there helping them get through having to change things in thier lives. In Joshua’s story Our Heavenly Father’s faithfulness to his promises to Abraham show very often. Listening and keeping commands is discussed a lot. He chose to know and love God and to pass down his faith to his children. Always remember your Heavenly Father loves and cares for you very much, and to remember to obey his commands and walk with him.

Closing Hymn; As you travel along the Jericho road by Donald S. Mccrossan

As you travel along on the Jericho road,
Does the world seem all wrong and heavy your load?
Just bring it to Christ, your sins all confess,
On the Jericho road your heart He will bless.

Refrain:
On the Jericho road there’s room for just two,
No more and no less, just Jesus and you;
Each burden He’ll bear, each sorrow He’ll share,
There’s never a care for Jesus is there.

2 On the Jericho road blind Bartimaeus sat,
His life was a voice, so empty and flat;
But Jesus appeared, one word bro’t him sight,
On the Jericho road Christ banished his night. [Refrain]

3 O brother to you this message I bring,
Tho hope may be gone, He’ll cause you to sing;
At Jesus’ command, sin’s shackles must fall,
On the Jericho road will you answer His call? [Refrain]

Closing Prayer; Heavenly Father we thank you for your word and the lesson taught in the story of Joshua and the city of Jericho. Help us to remember that you love us so much and to remember to obey your commands and walk with you. We also pray that who reads this if they do not understand it that The Holy Spirit will help them understand it. In Jesus name we pray.  Amen.

Prayer of Salvation: Which is how you ask to become a child of Our Heavenly Father. Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for your forgiveness. Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your footsteps daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and I know you will answer my prayers. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
