The 5 Apostles that we discussed this week
are Andrew, Peter, James son of Alphaeus, Judas Iscariot, and Jude.
Opening Hymn: The Christian Hymn by Apostle Paul to the churches;
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,who, though he was in the form of God,did not regard equality with Godas something to be exploited,but emptied himself,taking the form of a slave,being born in human likeness.And being found in human form,he humbled himselfand became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross.
Therefore God also highly exalted himand gave him the namethat is above every name,so that at the name of Jesusevery knee should bend,in heaven and on earth and under the earth,and every tongue should confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord,to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:5-11 NRSV)
Sermon;
The Apostle Andrew had a very important job of helping to bring people to Jesus making sure they got saved. He left his job as a fisherman to follow Jesus in his endeavors.
Peter the brother of Andrew also left the fishing industry to follow Jesus. He made many mistakes along the way, and Jesus was always correcting him. But he was very loyal to him. Jesus let Peter be because he was always being loyal to him.
James son of Alphaeus was another Apostle to Jesus, but he was not as known, but he became very known when he taught in the churches about the importance of obedience to The Lord. If you walk in obedience, you end up in a blessed life and taken to places you would never dream of going.
Judas Iscariot was a friend of Jesus during his childhood years. Jesus was always making sure that if Judas got in trouble he would get out. Judas’s story is very sad. He falls for a scheme from Satan to destroy Jesus, and he later betrays him.
Jude was a brother of Jesus. He was another one that was not that well known. He did become very well known when he became a leader in the churches. He would always be a helper in times of trial and tribulation. Jude did not like drawing attention to himself in any way. He would always be attentive to Jesus. The bible states that we are not to draw attention to ourselves, but to be vessels and help bring people to Jesus.
Phillipians 2: 5-11;
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Ephisians 2:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Luke 6:13 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
Acts 2:43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

Dear Heavenly Father, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
