Opening Hymn; I heard the voice of Jesus say by Horatius Bonar
I heard the voice of Jesus say,“Come unto Me and rest;Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.”I came to Jesus as I was,Weary and worn and sad;I found in Him a resting place,And He has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,“Behold, I freely give The living water; thirsty one,Stoop down, and drink, and live.”I came to Jesus, and I drankOf that life-giving stream;My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,And now I live in Him.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,“I am this dark world’s Light;Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise,And all thy day be bright.”I looked to Jesus, and I foundIn Him my Star, my Sun;And in that light of life I’ll walk,Till trav’ling days are done.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,“My Father’s house above Has many mansions; I’ve a placePrepared for you in love.”I trust in Jesus—in that house,According to His word,Redeemed by grace, my soul shall liveForever with the Lord.
Opening Prayer;
Heavenly Father, thank You that You commended Your love towards me in that while we were still dead in trespasses and sins You forgave our transgressions, removed us from condemnation, came to live in our hearts and promised us abundant and eternal life. Thank You for Your grace and mercy, Your comfort and peace – and thank You that You have given us all that is needful for life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence. Thank You for the riches of Your grace and peace, which continue to be multiplied with every passing day.. as we come to a deeper knowledge of You. May Your name be glorified in our hearts and in our lives, to Your honour and glory, in Jesus name we pray, AMEN.
Sermon for Sunday May 9, 2021
Talking about the book of 2 Peter and 1 John
The apostle Peter makes an effort to prepare Christians with the necessary tools that they would need to combat fake religious teachers in the church.
The first chapter of Peter’s second epistle was directed at those who were like-minded in how they viewed Christianity and the Lord. His message of mercy and peace was combined with his teachings of obtaining knowledge.
Peter warns his readers against apostates and prophets who are false. He claimed that these false prophets will only bring about their own perdition, even as they collect followers. If his readers follow these false prophets, they will also be lost.
The third chapter of Second Peter is the final chapter of this epistle written by Peter. In it, he has several objectives, including a reminder to Christians of the coming of the scorners of promise, a review of catastrophic events that will befall the earth, and the assurance of new heaven and earth when Jesus returns.
Starts the book of 1 John
St. John’s gospel is the last of the four gospels in the New Testament. In John 1, John the Baptist explains how Jesus came to the world. He says that though he baptizes the people with water, the Son of Man will baptize them with the Holy Spirit.
The First Epistle of John was written to give followers of Christ the knowledge to understand Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The epistle breaks down how God wants them to live.
1 John Chapter 2 provides words of faith to help followers of Christ avoid committing sin. John said that when we do sin, Jesus is there on our behalf as the propitiation. However, by following in the Word and obeying the commandments set forth by God, the believer is choosing to lead an enlightened life. According to John, this life will prove to be fruitful in the Kingdom of Heaven.
John described how wonderful the love of God is for His people and how hope, as His loving children, should motivate us to lead pure lives. John said that believers should live a righteous life since they can differentiate between good and evil.
Mother’s Day Section:
For those who are reading this, we want to bring out what is important on Mother’s day. Mother’s day is a day you should honor your mother, love her, and be with her if possible. For those that do not have a mother, you should honor those who are raising you like you would a mother. You should honor them, love them and spend time with them. Here are some verse below from King James bible. Please read them and think about them as you read them and honor who brought you up, or your mother. Jesus and your Heavenly Father want you to do this, as you can see from the verses below. We want to recognize that Mother’s are vessels of your Heavenly Father, he sent her to raise you. That makes her a vessel of the Lord’s. Honor this precious person that the lord sent you to, and have peace and joy with your mother this weekend.
Matthew 15:4
For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
Mark 7:10
For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
John 19:26
When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
Esther 2:7
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.

Closing Prayer; A Mother’s Day Prayer;
Dear Father, we approach your throne on behalf of the mothers whom you have entrusted with the care of your most precious little ones. We thank you for creating each mom with a unique combination of gifts and talents. We thank you for the sacrifice of self each mom gives for her children. For the late nights spent rocking a colicky infant. For the hands calloused from washing, wiping, scrubbing, mixing, backing, stirring, hugging, patting, disciplining, holding, writing, erasing, painting, and pouring.
Benediction; Go, and spend time today with your Mother, remember, she is a vessel of the lord. Remember, for those who were in foster care. This was a vessel of the lord sent to raise you. Honor her as you would your mother. God bless you. Children, those who have Mother’s who are not saved, you can bring them to the lord by the prayer below. Those who wish to strengthen their faith please say the prayer below.
For those who wish to become a child of our heavenly Lord, or strengthen thier faith, please pray the following prayer below.
Dear Heavenly Father, I want to be a part of your family. You said in Your Word that if I acknowledge that You raised Jesus from the dead, and that I accept Him as my Lord and Savior, I would be saved. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for forgiving me, saving me, and giving me eternal life with You. Amen!”
By saying this prayer, we believe you are born again.
