We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels. We also obey Our Heavenly Father in what he wants us to do, we have a very good   and deep walk with him. We would like you to have that as well. Tuesday March 10, 2026. What is the meaning of a birthday biblically.

Birthdays in the Bible are rarely mentioned and, when they are, typically associated with pagan rulers (Pharaoh, Herod) and tragic events, such as executions. The Bible does not explicitly command or forbid celebrating birthdays, but it emphasizes life as a gift from Our Heavenly Father, focusing more on spiritual rebirth

The only specific birthday celebrations mentioned are those of Pharaoh (Genesis 40:20) and King Herod (Matthew 14:6), both of which resulted in deaths. In the ancient world, birthdays were associated with astrology, superstition, and the honoring of kings. While some view the lack of positive examples as a reason to avoid celebrations, others focus on celebrating the life Our Heavenly Father has given, as noted on Answers in Genesis and United Church of God.

Other relevant, though not always celebratory, mentions include Job 1:4 (sons feasting) and Jeremiah 20:15 (referencing the day of birth).

Many Christians today choose to treat birthdays as an opportunity to thank God for life, rather than focusing on the pagan origins, says
