Rev.Raynette K. Weiss and Associate Pastor Jessie K. Weiss. We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels.A study on how to Love your neighbor as yourself. Saturday September 13, 2025.

  • To “love your neighbor as yourself,” as found in the Bibl(Matthew 22:39), involves seeing others as valuable and worthy, actively demonstrating kindness and compassion through acts of service, showing impartiality and justice, speaking with honesty and without malice, and being willing to share one’s resources and the gospel with others, all while having a heart focused on others rather than being self-centered. This requires humility, introspection, and a commitment to stepping outside of one’s comfort zone to meet the needs of others, both big and small.

The commandment presupposes that people naturally love and care for themselves. It asks us to extend that same instinct of care and concern outward to others. This command is intrinsically linked to loving God with all your heart, soul, and mind. You cannot truly love your neighbor if you don’t also love God, and vice versa. It’s considered a foundational spiritual principle, a “royal law,” that guides how believers should live and interact with the world.

Recognize that all people are “sons and daughters of God,” worthy of love and respect. Be willing to offer help, whether it’s something as simple as helping a neighbor with a task or sharing resources with someone in need.Show gentleness, patience, and kindness in all your relationships.

Speak the truth with honesty and kindness, avoiding gossip, slander, and malicious words. When you have a conflict with someone, address it directly and work towards making things right. Offer your neighbors the gift of prayer, bringing their needs and concerns before Our Heavenly Father. For believers, loving your neighbor includes lovingly sharing the “good news” of the gospel, which offers hope and eternal life.

Consciously shift your focus from your own agenda to the needs of others. Understand your own weaknesses and be willing to be called out on your wrongs. Go beyond simply waving or being superficially polite to genuinely connect with and understand your neighbors.

Closing Prayer: “Heavenly Father, thank You for the immeasurable and unconditional love You have shown me, despite my many faults and imperfections.

I want my life to be a reflection of Your love for others. Please help me to love my neighbors as You love me, to see them through Your eyes, and to understand their inherent worth and value.

Lord, empower me with Your Spirit to act with kindness, generosity, and humility. Help me to put aside my own agendas and to look for practical ways to serve and assist those You place in my life, whether they are close by, strangers, or even those with whom I disagree.

Remove any bitterness, anger, or prejudice from my heart, and instead, fill me with tenderheartedness and forgiveness, just as You have forgiven me through Christ.

Give me the courage to be a good neighbor and to show Your love, even when it is difficult or challenging.

I ask this in the name of Jesus.

Our lord and savior we pray. Please

forgive me of my sins against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for Saving me.
