Rev.  Raynette K. Weiss and Associate Pastor Jessie K. Weiss. We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels. It is important if you get depressed or sick to ask your Heavenly Father for help. Monday December 15, 2025.

Going to Our Heavenly Father when sick or depressed is considered highly important in many faith traditions as a source of comfort, strength, healing, and hope, offering a spiritual dimension to suffering, though it’s often seen as complementary to, not a replacement for, medical help, with faith providing perspective and deep connection during trials. Many scriptures emphasize Our Heavenly Father’s  closeness to the hurting, urging prayer, seeking His presence, and trusting His care, viewing these experiences as opportunities for deeper spiritual growth and reliance on Him.

Why It’s Important (From a Faith Perspective):Comfort & Presence: Scriptures say Our Heavenly Father is near to the brokenhearted, a refuge for the worried, and offers comfort even when you don’t feel it. Source of Hope: Faith provides hope in seeming hopeless situations, believing Our Heavenly Father can bring good from suffering and use trials for growth. Spiritual Healing: Prayer and drawing near to God can address the spiritual roots of distress and foster a deeper, more healing relationship with ultimate reality.Strength & Guidance: Relying on Our Heavenly Father’s  help one navigate daily life and challenges, finding strength beyond personal capacity. Fulfillment of Purpose: Faith helps individuals see meaning in suffering, learn lessons, and grow closer to Our Heavenly Father, even if the illness isn’t immediately removed.

How Faith Encourages This:Prayer: Asking for relief, comfort, and strength (1 Peter 5:7).Scripture: Finding promises of Our Heavenly Father’s love and care (Psalm 34:18).Community: Receiving support from fellow believers, as the Savior ministered to the sick. Focusing on Jesus: Following His example of compassion and connecting with His healing power.

Integrating Faith with Other Help: Many sources emphasize that faith doesn’t negate the need for medical, therapeutic, or self-care tools like medication or therapy. The approach is often holistic: using professional help while simultaneously leaning on Our Heavenly Father for spiritual and emotional grounding, recognizing the spiritual dimension in all human struggles.

In essence, turning to Our Heavenly Father provides a framework for understanding, enduring, and finding purpose in sickness and depression, complementing other forms of healing.

Closing Prayer:

“Heavenly Father, I feel overwhelmed by sadness and fear. I bring my burdens to you and ask you to fill my heart with your peace and grace. Quiet the storms in my heart and remind me you are my anchor.”

Our lord and savior we pray, please forgive me of my sins

against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me.
