Opening Hymn: A mother’s prayer by Celine Dion:
I pray you’ll be my eyes
And watch her where she goes
And help her to be wise
Help me to let go
Every mother’s prayer
Every child knows
Lead her to a place
Guide her with your grace
To a place where she’ll be safe
I pray she finds your light
And holds it in her heart
As darkness falls each night
Remind her where you are
Every mother’s prayer
Every child knows
Need to find a place
Guide her with your grace
Give her faith so she’ll be safe
Lead her to a place
Guide her with your grace
To a place where she’ll be safe
Sermon:
On Mother’s Day, for those that have Mother’s, should honor them and spend a lot of time with them if you can. Now we want to show you what Mother’s day is biblically.
The Bible does emphasize the importance and value of mothers, highlighting their role in nurturing, guiding, and loving their children. While not a mandated holiday, the Bible encourages honoring mothers and recognizing their significant contributions to families. Also, the Bible holds mothers in high esteem and offers guidance on the love, care, and responsibility that come with motherhood. Biblically, honoring mothers (and fathers) is commanded by Our Heavenly Father in both the Old and New Testaments (Deuteronomy 5:16: Ephesians 6:2). Throughout the Scriptures, mothers are depicted as symbols of love, strength, and unwavering. guidance. Psalm 139:13-14: “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully. Exodus 21:12 does not say honor your mother only on a designated day, but we are to give honor to our mothers everyday.A great Bible story for Mother’s Day is the story of Jochebed, the mother of Moses. This story highlights a mother’s fierce love and bravery in the face of danger, showcasing her willingness to protect her son even when faced with a direct command to the contrary.
Why do we celebrate Mother’s Day? Mother’s Day is an occasion which is celebrated in various parts of the world to express respect, honor, and love towards mothers. The day is an event to honor the contribution of mothers, acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society.
A heartfelt Mother’s Day message should convey appreciation, love, and gratitude. It can acknowledge the mother’s role as a role model, a source of strength, or a beloved friend. Some popular options include simple “Happy Mother’s Day” wishes, or messages expressing appreciation for specific qualities or sacrifices.
Mom, your love and support have shaped me into the person I am today. Thank you for everything. Happy Mother’s Day!”
Raynette K. Weiss Ministries wishes all Mother’s a Happy Mother’s Day.
Closing Hymn: Faith of our mother’s by Arthur Bardwell:
1 Faith of our mothers, living still
In cradle song and bedtime prayer;
In nursery lore and fireside love,
Thy presence still pervades the air.
Faith of our mothers, living faith,
We will be true to thee till death.
2 Faith of our mothers, loving faith,
Fount of our childhood’s trust and grace,
Oh, may thy consecration prove
Source of a finer, nobler race;
Faith of our mothers, loving faith,
We will be true to thee till death.
3 Faith of our mothers, guiding faith,
For youthful longing, youthful doubt,
How blurred our vision, blind our way,
Thy providential care without.
Faith of our mothers, guiding faith,
We will be true to thee till death.
4 Faith of our mothers, Christian faith,
In truth beyond our stumbling creeds,
Still serve the home and save the Church,
And breathe thy spirit through our deeds;
Faith of our mothers, Christian faith,
We will be true to thee till death.
Closing Prayer: May this Mother’s Day be filled with gratitude, peace, and cherished memories. To all mothers and those who mother in faith and love—we thank you, we honor you, and we pray for you today and always. In the name of Our lord and savior.
Our lord and savior we pray. Please forgive me of my sins against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for Saving me.
