Rev.  Raynette K. Weiss and Associate Pastor Jessie K. Weiss. We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels. We also obey Our Heavenly Father in what he wants us to do, we have a very good   and deep walk with him. We would like you to have that as well.  A deep study about the Sabbath.  Saturday January 17, 2026.

Studying the Sabbath involves exploring its biblical roots in creation and the Ten Commandments as a day of rest and worship, its significance in Judaism (Shabbat) as a weekly delight and remembrance of Our Heavenly Father, its observance in Christianity (often Sunday, celebrating resurrection, or Saturday, as Sabbatarian groups), and its historical evolution from a monthly lunar observance to a weekly cycle, highlighting themes of holiness, covenant, and well-being. Modern research also suggests potential mental and physical health benefits from structured rest and detachment from work.

The Sabbath began after Our Heavenly Father rested on the seventh day, blessing and sanctifying it (Genesis 2:2-3), establishing a pattern for humanity.”Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8), linking it to creation (Exodus) and liberation from Egypt (Deuteronomy). A day for rest, worship, fellowship with Our Heavenly Father reflecting on His goodness, and finding worth beyond productivity.Serves as a sign of belonging to Our Heavenly Father as Creator and Redeemer, with specific prohibitions against work. The concept of a seven-day cycle may have evolved from lunar festivals (Full Moon) and Mesopotamian influences, eventually merging with the creation-based weekly rest. A central weekly holiday (Friday sunset to Saturday su nset) focused on joy, learning, family, and spiritual renewal, with strict observance of melakha (forbidden labors). Most Christians observe the Lord’s Day (Sunday)tocommemorate Jesus’ resurrection, while some groups (Sabbatarians) keep Saturday, upholding the original commandment.

Studies link Sabbath-keeping to better mental health, reduced stress, improved self-care, and stronger relationships, emphasizing “detachment” from work. Seen as a way to counter consumerism, develop spirituality, and promote overall well-being for individuals and communities. Modern life presents barriers like high demands and work schedules, but practices and philosophies around Sabbath rest continue to evolve.

Closing Prayer:  Heavenly Father “Help me to make every Sabbath about you. Quiet my heart, give rest to my soul, and refocus my spirit—for true renewal comes only from you”.

Our lord and savior we pray, please forgive me of my sins

against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the

Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me.
