Opening Hymn: Take my hand precious lord lead me home by Jim Reves:

When my way groweth drear

Precious Lord, linger near

When my light is almost gone

Hear my cry, hear my call

Hold my hand lest I fall

Take my hand, precious Lord

Lead me on

Precious Lord, take my hand

Lead me on, let me stand

I am tired, I’m weak, I am worn

Through the storm, through the night

Lead me on to the light

Take my hand, precious Lord

Lead me home

— Instrumental —

When my work is all done

And my race here is run

Let me see by the light

Thou hast shown

That fair city so bright

Where the lantern is the light

Take my hand, precious Lord

Lead me on

Sermon:

Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) was a pivotal Baptist minister and leader in the American Civil Rights Movement, renowned for his advocacy of nonviolent resistance inspired by Christian teachings and Mahatma Gandhi, spearheading major campaigns like the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the March on Washington, delivering iconic speeches like “I Have a Dream,” and expanding his focus to global poverty and war before his assassination in 1968, leaving a lasting legacy. Any child of Our Heavenly Father goes through seasons in different ways. Our Heavenly Father does different things with each child, they are treated as individuals. Also do not get upset when someone else gets something and you do not, when it is your time to get something it will happen. Each season serves a unique purpose for spiritual maturity, teaching reliance on Our Heavenly Father rather than circumstances. Literal agricultural cycles and metaphors for spiritual growth and Our Heavenly Father’s  timing. Pruning is a spiritual metaphor used primarily by Jesus in John 15 to describe how Our Heavenly Father refines believers to foster growth and increase spiritual “fruitfulness”Our Heavenly Father allows it for purification and growth; the outcome is proven faith.

Comes from our own desires or Satan, luring us to sin (James 1:13-15).

Spiritual maturity is a journey of growth towards greater understanding, connection, and alignment with divine principles or one’s highest self, marked by self-control, humility, wisdom, and consistent, loving action. It involves moving beyond ego, accepting othersacting righteously even when difficult, and lovingly reflecting spiritual ideals (like Christ-likeness in Christianity) in daily life, not just possessing knowledge. Managing emotions, speech, and desires, not being ruled by feelings.Prioritizing spiritual will over personal wants; seeking to please Our Heavenly Father. Recognizing truth, good from evil, and acting accordingly. Quick to forgive, slow to take offense, and accepting other Testing is the process of examining or proving the genuineness, value, and integrity of a person’s faith and character. While it often involves difficulty, its ultimate purpose iMaintaining an ongoing conversation with Our Heavenly Father that moves past simple requests to listening and worship. Building deep relationships within a church community where believers can encourage and sharpen one another. A commitment to acting on what Our Heavenly Father reveals and maintaining a “clean heart” through regular self-reflection and confession.

Closing Hymn: Lead us Heavenly Father lead us by James Edmonton:

1 Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us

o’er the world’s tempestuous sea;

guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,

for we have no help but thee;

yet possessing every blessing,

if our God our Father be.2 Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us:

all our weakness thou dost know;

thou didst tread this earth before us,

thou didst feel its keenest woe;

lone and dreary, faint and weary,

through the desert thou didst go.3 Spirit of our God, descending,

fill our hearts with heavenly joy,

love with every passion blending,

pleasure that can never cloy:

thus provided, pardoned, guided,

nothing can our peace destroy.

Closing Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace and for calling me to spiritual maturity, to be complete in Christ. Help me move from spiritual infancy to fully mature in You, growing in knowledge, understanding, and likeness to Jesus.

Give me strength to apply Your Word, even when facing trials, so my faith produces steadfastness. Fill me with Your Spirit, so I can walk in love, joy, peace, patience, and self-control, bearing the fruit of the Spirit.

Root me in Your Word and grace, enabling me to discern good from evil and stand firm against false teachings. Take responsibility for my growth, Lord, and transform me daily by Your power, until I see You face-to-face. In Jesus’ name.

Our lord and savior we pray, please forgive me of my sins

against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the

Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me.
