Our Heavenly Father instructs us to abandon our old life by calling us to forget past failures and sins, focusing instead on the “new thing” He is doing (Isaiah 43:18-19). He urges us to “put off” the old self, which is corrupted by deceitful desires, and to renew our minds, embracing a new life of righteousness and holiness in Christ (Ephesians 4:22-24, Romans 6:22). Our Heavenly Father advises against dwelling on former things so we do not miss the new opportunities and blessings He is creating.
The call is to change our way of thinking, putting on a “new man” that aligns with Iye Our Heavenly Father’s righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:23-24).Conduct: We are instructed to stop sinful behaviors like lying, anger, and immoral actions, because this is not of him, it is of the adversary. Our Heavenly Father wants you to have joy and peace, and spread his word to whoever can do it, and be a good missionary or Deciple. This will replacing these other behaviors with truth, love, and productive work (Ephesians 4:25-31). Romans 6:6-7 explains that because we have been set free from sin through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, we should not return to our old, enslaved way of life. Similar to Paul in Philippians 3:13-14, we are to “strain forward” toward the goal rather than looking back at what lies behind. In other words he wants to keep you out of bondage and keep you free. Our Heavenly Father’s guidance is to move forward in faith, as “it’s not over until Our Heavenly Father says it’s over,” allowing Him to create a new, purposeful future.
Closing Prayer: “Heavenly Father, I surrender my heart, my past, and my future into Your hands. I ask for Your healing touch to break the chains of my old life and to clear away the clutter of things that did not work.
Father, I ask for the strength to not look back, to not obsess over past mistakes or who hurt me. Instead, help me to fix my gaze forward on the new things You are doing in my life.
I take every thought captive and hand it over to You, replacing fear, guilt, and regret with Your peace and truth. I choose to live in the freedom of today, knowing my future is secure in You.
I am not going back. I will pursue You, even when it is difficult, and trust that You are restoring what was lost. Thank You for the new, redeemed life I have in You.
In Jesus’ mighty name
Our lord and savior we pray, please forgive me of my sins
