Rev.Raynette K. Weiss and Associate Pastor Jessie K. Weiss. We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels. What Our Heavenly Father expects from the Government on earth. Monday October 6, 2025.

Based on Christian scripture, Our Heavenly Father expects earthly governments to uphold justice, protect the innocent, and maintain an orderly society. The Bible frames government as an institution created by Our Heavenly Father to restrain evil and promote the common good for all people. While the specific expectations are based on biblical interpretation, key themes include justice, protection, submission, and a recognition of a higher authority. Foundational principles for government Divine authority: All legitimate governing authority iinstituted by Our Heavenly Father. Passages like Romans 13:1 state that “there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist have been established by God”. This principle holds even for governments that do not acknowledge The Heavenly Father. A force for good: A government’s purpose is twofold: to promote good conduct and to punish wrongdoing. It serves as a “servant of Our Heavenly Father, an avenger who carries out Our Heavenly Father’s wrath on the wrongdoer” (Romans 13:4). This provides a basis for creating and enforcing laws that benefit society. Justice and mercy: Governments are expected to administer true justice, showing mercy and compassion, and not oppressing the vulnerable. This includes defending the rights of the poor, needy, and afflicted, and practicing  or people with disabilites and the elderly. impartiality. Maintaining order: By punishing evildoers and commending the righteous, government’s role is to ensure domestic tranquility and a peaceful society. This creates a stable environment where citizens can live “peaceful and  lives. quietlivs”(1 Timothy 2:2).

Responsibilities towards citizens. Protect the vulnerable: Scripture emphasizes a specific duty to protect the weakest members of society, such as the poor, foreigners, and helpless. This is rooted in the biblical concept that all human beings are made in Our Heavenly Father’s image.Uphold human liberty: The inherent freedom and dignity opeople, created in God’s image, should be protected. This includes guarding against oppression and ensuring religious freedom. Limited, not absolute, power: While governments have divinely given authority, their power is not absolute. They are answerable to Our Heavenly Father and must not demand what belongs solely to Our Heavenly Father. This principle is famously captured in Jesus’s teaching to “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to Our Heavenly Father the things that are God’s”(Matthew22:21).

Limitations and the heavenly kingdomBiblical civil disobedience: When a government’s laws or commands contradict Our Heavenly Father’s direct will, Christians have a moral obligation to “obey Our Heavenly Father rather than men” (Acts 5:29). Historical and biblical examples of this include the Hebrew midwives, Daniel, and the Apostle Peter defying unjust commands. Recognizing a higher kingdom: Christian theology distinguishes between the earthly city and the heavenly city, reminding believers that their ultimate allegiance is to Our Heavenly Father’s eternal kingdom, not to any worldly government. Earthly governments will eventually be superseded by the rule of Christ, who will bring perfect justice. Not a theocracy: The New Testament does not require Christians to establish a theocracy or enforce Faith laws on others. Rather, a good government’s job is to create a peaceful and just society where the church can freely do its work of spreading the gospel.  Our Heavenly Father does not desire Our Government to be closed, but he wishes it to be working and sound.

Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, whose steadfast love never ceases, we lift our nation up to you in this time of uncertainty.

We pray for our elected officials at all levels of government—local, state, and federal. Grant them wisdom and humility to set aside division and pride, and guide them toward compromise for the common good of all. Let their decisions be based on sound judgment rather than self-interest.

We pray for unity to replace the divisiveness that plagues our land, so that our leaders may work together for the benefit of our nation.

We also lift up all the workers and families who would be impacted by a shutdown. We ask for your protection and provision for the vulnerable in our communities who rely on public services for health, safety, and justice.

Remind us that our ultimate security rests not in human institutions, but in you. Give us peace that surpasses all understanding, and heal our land. In the name of Our lord and savior we pray.

Our lord and savior we pray. Please

forgive me of my sins against you, please come into my heart. By the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for Saving me.
