This is for Friday August 21, 2020

Hello, congregation, you have finished the book of Mark, so during the last couple of days before the next week, I am putting this on so you can refresh your memory about Mark. For those that did not have time to go through that series can understand the book of Mark while reading these summaries. We always like for our congregation to review things so they can get it into thier spirit and heart. We hope this will help you as you go into the book of Luke.

The book of Mark

Chapter 1 Goes over about John the baptist and how he and Jesus met each other and that John baptized Jesus in the Jordan river. Jesus also had met his first few friends that became his deciples. They loved to fish. It also highlighted some healings that Jesus had done to different people with leoparcy, and casted out evil spirits from people that would have possessed them. Jesus was also able to resist any temptation from Satan when he spent 40 days and nights in the wilderness.

Chapter 2 Jesus did the miracle of making someone with palsy be able to function. He did this by commanding the person to rise and walk after putting his hands on them. It also went over about certain things done on the sabbath day. One of them is fasting. He also still has the power to forgive sins on earth of anyone’s doing.

Chapter 3 Discusses some of the same that was mentioned in chapter 2. It went over 12 people that were chosen and ordained to Jesus’s deciples. It also went over a case where someone was to be Healed, but that it was the sabbath. Then it was allowed.

Chapter 4 Went over a lot of Chapters 3, 2 1. it also talked about how deciples learned how not to fear in certain circumstances, such as storms. All were amazed at how even types of weather conditions will calm down if told to by Jesus.

Chapter 5 Jesus always had the power to cast out any evil spirits that may be in any human or other creatures. Many special prayers are used to help lose the evil spirit where it is attached and possessing so the inner being can be made clean.

Chapter 6 Jesus has been known also as a provider of needs. He was able to feed thousands of people on very little food. It also went over how he taught how not to fear when even a strong storm is in progress. He has been known as the good Shepard when it seemed like many got lost and needed a leader.

Chapter 7 Went over how we were given two ears to hear and a mouth and tounge to speak. At times Jesus performed the miracle of helping the deaf to hear and the dumb learn how to talk.

Chapter 8 A continuation of Chapter 6 and 7 on how The lord provided for thousands of people with only 5 loaves of bread and a few fish in a basket. It went over how Jesus had to rebuke peter for trying to do the same to him first.

Chapter 9 Talks about how no miracles on earth can be done by man in the name of Jesus. He is the one and only that can perform these tasks. If by chance someone does try to do a miracle in Jesus’s name they can be cast into a fire and the pride can be burned out of them.

Chapter 10 Goes over a few of the commandments given by God, such as do not kill, or do not commit adultery. God brings together two people in a relationship and puts together a marriage if within his will. It also goes over the rules for divorce.
Chapter 11 At times Jesus would give things in exchange for other things. He wished for his houses of worship to be called a temple or a house of prayer.

Chapter 12 Talks about some of the commandments like in Chapter 9. it points out how important the first commandment is. It is saying that God should be the first love of your life. He created the bond of marriage to take place between man and woman. Always care enough to love your neighbor as oneself. Love The lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.

Chapter 13 Talks about how the gospel was a written doctrine in Governing a nation. In some cases there would be unrest, such as countries against countries, and people in their families against each other. There would be earthquakes and even stars and the moon losing thier lights. Jesus would also be deciding what type of buildings would be built on the land. At first there might be denial of Christ from people, but after a while they would see and believe in what he is able to accomplish.

Chapter 14 Goes into about a box with an oil used as an ointment to anoint for healing. It also goes into how Judas Iscariot was the one of the 12 deciples was supposed to betray Jesus. There was preparation for all of this around the time of passover. There was also an instance where money was offered to Judas to betray Christ. Jesus had went over with everyone how when something crows twice. I will be denied 3 times. Jesus was prepared for trial by stripping him naked and eventually spitting on him in order to hide his facial area. Peter ended up denying Jesus 3 times, yet Judas was the main one chosen to do so.

Chapter 15 Went over trial proceedings with Jesus. Many witnesses and even Jesus himself verified he was the son of God and the king of the jews. He was put on the cross after the trial and then prayed to God and even cried. why art thou forsaken me. Jesus gave up his spirit for ransom in exchange for sins of the world. Pilate really was not for Jesus being crucified at first because he did not understand what crime could have been comitted by someone that believed in helping and saving people.

Chapter 16 Explains how at one point Jesus’s body was checked on, and it was not where it was lain. Mary Magdalene was the one that discovered the body missing. A guard in the tomb had mentioned as Mary looked scared saying. No need to fear, if you are looking for Jesus he is not here. He has risen. An angel had commanded Mary and others to go and preach any good news in the gospel, and talk about how Jesus had risen from the dead.

Prayer of the day: Heavenly Father, we pray that you will help this congregation to understand better the book of Mark, and that they will learn to walk with you, and do whatever you have in your will for each of thier lives. We pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.
