Summer serves as a natural signpost pointing to the nearness of
Christ’s return rather than a literal code word for a catastrophic end-time event.The Sign of Imminence: In Matthew 24:32–33, Jesus uses the seasonal transition of a fig tree sprouting leaves as an analogy. Just as tender branches and leaves mean summer is near, watching prophetic world events unfold means His return is “right at the door”Summer in the ancient agricultural calendar was the critical period of harvest and gathering. Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
As the heat of summer rises and the fig tree puts forth its tender leaves, we are reminded of Your Holy Word and the times in which we live. You told us that when we see these seasons turn, we are drawing near to the very gates of Your return.
Lord, as the days grow intense—both in the heat of the earth and the trials of the world—keep our spirits cool, sober, and awake. Deliver us from spiritual slumber. When the distractions of this world tempt us to look away, anchor our eyes firmly on You.
Make us like the wise virgins with oil in our lamps, shining brightly as children of light in a darkening age. Grant us grace to endure opposition, courage to share the Gospel, and hearts filled with active common for the lost and the hurting around us.
As creation groans and waits for redemption, our ultimate hope is not in this passing age, but in Your eternal kingdom. Maranatha—come, Lord Jesus.
