Opening Hymn: No fear by Jon Reddick and We the Kingdom.
I got enemies at every side
It ain’t lookin’ good, I ain’t gonna lie
Arrows flyin’, devil’s tryin’
To make me think I’m goin’ down this time
You might think that I’d be afraid
Runnin’ scared with a shaken faith
But the God I know says it ain’t over
The God I know’s gonna make a way
Yeah, though I walk through the valley
I will have
No fear (no fear)
No fear (no fear)
The mighty power of Jesus is fighting for me here
No fear (no fear)
No fear (no fear)
The light of the world makes the darkness disappear
No fear (not over my life, not over my life, not over my life)
No fear (not over my life, not over my life, not over my life, eh)
No fear when I’m walkin’ through the fire
‘Cause I know who’s walkin’ me through
No fear when the floodwaters rise
If I got my eyes on You
No fear (no fear)
No fear (no fear)
The mighty power of Jesus is fighting for me here
No fear (no fear)
No fear (no fear)
The light of the world makes the darkness disappear
No fear (not over my life, not over my life, not over my life)
No fear (not over my life, not over my life, not over my life)
Not over my family
Not over my future
Not over my life
God’s over my life
Not over my battles
Not over my struggles
Not over my life
God’s over my life (no fear)
Not over my family
Not over my future
Not over my life (no fear)
God’s over my life (no fear)
Not over my battles
Not over my struggles
Not over my life (no fear)
God’s over my life (no fear)
Yeah, though I walk through the valley
I will have (whoa)
No fear (no fear)
No fear (no fear)
The mighty power of Jesus is fighting for me here (fighting for me)
No fear (no fear)
No fear (no fear)
The light of the world makes the darkness disappear
No fear (not over my life, not over my life, not over my life)
No fear (not over my life, not over my life, not over my life)
No fear (not over my life, not over my life, not over my life)
Sermon:
The word fear often stands for the acronym False Evidence Appearing Real, a popular teaching tool used in sermons to describe how worry tricks the mind.
False: Fear presents scenarios that are often untrue or exaggerated by our imagination.Evidence: It tries to convince us it has proof that disaster iscoming.Appearing: It projects shadows and worst-case outcomes as if they are right in front of us.Real: It feels completely genuine in our bodies, even when the threat is imagined.Fear acts like a shadow in a graveyard; it looks terrifying, but it is only a shadow on a peaceful night. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. When fear whispers that you will fall, faith answers that God provides a solid place to step.A specific Bible passage to read alongside itThree practical steps to overcome aniety using faith An opening illustration or prayeLet me know how you would like to proceed. The word “FEAR” is also an acrostic for “False Evidence Appearing Real,” as the following tale demonstrates: Don’t give in to fears or they will overwhelm you.
Closing Hymn: False evidence appearing real by Folly:
Woe? Blame it on the rain
Woah! Blame it on the name
Game. Size-up,suit up self-esteem
Tie-down, dress-down, fight in the dog-days
Wolf-nights
Introspections and longing are a feverish solitaire
In fact, it’s a lot like masturbation
When you win you beat yourself
See-saw, hear/say
Say-saw, heresy
Stimulus, responsive
Stimuli responded
Let’s pick a definition!
Undue sense of ones own arrogance
Or a family of lions
Yeah, I’m afraid
I don’t want to
Yeah, I’m afraid
I don’t want to die
Not now. Not ever
It’s a harsh reality, right?
It’s the most offensive truth
Those songs you’ll hear when you’re deaf
What will they sound like when there’s no sound at all?
Footsteps you see in the dark
Footsteps you see.
