(Chapters 1–4): Includes the genea
ogy, Jesus’s miraculous birth, his baptism, and his temptation in the wilderness.
(Chapters 5–7): Jesus delivers his longest recorded teaching, which outlines the ethics and lifestyle of kingdom citizens (e.g., the Beatitudes, the Lord’s Prayer).
(Chapters 8–10): Jesus performs wonders that demonstrate his power over sickness, nature, and darkness, and subsequently sends out his twelve apostles to preach.
Chapters 21–27): Jesus arrives in Jerusalem, confronts the temple leaders, institutes the Last Supper, is betrayed, and is crucified.

The Book of Matthew is the first book of the New Testament and serves as a bridge connecting the Old and New Testaments. It presents Jesus as the promised Messiah (Christ), the Son of God, and the ultimate King who fulfills ancient prophecies and brings the kingdom of heaven to eart. The Gospel is famously structured around five distinct teaching blocks (or discourses) that parallel the five books of the Torah, positioning Jesus as a greater-than-Moses figure with a new, authoritative. Give me a greater understanding of Your Word and a hunger to align my life with Your righteousness. Help me to seek first Your kingdom, to extend grace and forgiveness to others, and to be a light in the world, just as Jesus taught.
