Rev.  Raynette K. Weiss and Associate Pastor Jessie K. Weiss

We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels. We also obey Our Heavenly Father in what he wants us to do, we have a very good   and deep walk with him. We would like you to have that as well. Tuesday March 31, 2026. A deep study of Tuesday during Holy Week.

  • Matthew 21:23–46: Jesus debates the chief priests on hisauthority and shares the parable of the tenants
  • .Matthew 23:13–36: The “Seven Woes” or woes against the Pharisees.
  • Mark 11:20–33: The fig tree withers; Jesus is questioned about his authority.
  • John 12:20–36: Jesus speaks of his upcoming death and declares, “Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.

Lesson:

Holy Tuesday focuses on Jesus’ authority, his rebuke of religious leaders, the cursing of the fig tree, and prophecies regarding the end times, of his coming passionHoly Tuesday is a intense day of confrontation, teaching, and preparation for Jesus’s impending death, where he boldly confronts religious authorities, exposes their hypocrisy, and teaches on the end times, faith, and judgment. Key events include the cursing of the fig tree, the Olivet Discourse, and the anointing in Bethany. Returning to Jerusalem from Bethany, Jesus and his disciples notice the fig tree he cursed on Monday is already dead. This acts as a living parable for the spiritual fruitlessness of the Temple and Israel’s leadership. The religious leaders (Sanhedrin) question Jesus’s authority in response to his temple cleansing on Monday, attempting to trap him into accusations of blasphemy or treason. Jesus delivers blistering rebuttals, including the parable of the wicked tenants, the wedding banquet, the ten virgins, and the talents. He also delivers the “seven woes” against the Pharisees. (Matthew 24-25): Jesus sits on the Mount of Olives and prophesies the destruction of the Temple and his second coming, calling for vigilance and faithfulness. The day concludes with a tender contrast to the day’s conflict, where a woman (often identified as Mary) anoints Jesus with expensive oil, a pre-burial ritual. Jesus asserts his identity as the true King and Messiah in the face of intense opposition. The teaching focuses on the necessity of spiritual fruitfulness and repentance, warning that hypocritical religion is doomed, while inviting people into a new, authentic Church.

Jesus urges his followers to live with purpose and readiness, as depicted in the parables of the virgins and talents. Holy Tuesday serves as a moment to evaluate one’s own life for spiritual “fruit” and to reflect on standing with Christ amidst a world that challenges his authority. Returning to Jerusalem from Bethany, the disciples see the fig tree Jesus cursed on Monday has withered to its roots. Jesus uses this as a lesson on the power of faith and prayer and a warning against spiritual fruitlessness.

In the Temple, the Sanhedrin, Pharisees, and Sadducees attempt to trap Jesus with questions about His authority, paying taxes to Caesar, and the nature of the resurrection. Jesus observes and praises the poor widow who gave all she had to the Temple treasury, contrasting her devotion with the performative wealth of others.: The contrast between the religious leaders’ outward piety and the widow’s humble faith is a central theme.Through parables like the Tenants in the Vineyard, Jesus announces the end of a corrupt religious order and the rise of a new global community.

Closing Prayer: Heavenly Father, on this Holy Tuesday, we reflect on your courageous teaching in the Temple and your words of wisdom. As the shadows of your Passion deepen, we ask for the courage to live our faith boldly and not be afraid to stand for truth. Forgive us for the times we have buried our talents out of fear and help us to be faithful stewards of your grace. As we walk with you toward the cross, strengthen our spirits, fill us with your peace, and guide us toward the light of Resurrection.

Our Lord and savior we pray. Please forgive me of my sin
