We are two of Our Heavenly Father’s vessels. We also obey Our Heavenly Father in what he wants us to do, we have a very good and deep walk with him. We would like you to have that as well. Wednesday April 1, 2026. A deep study of Wednesday during Holy Week.
Matthew 26:14-16 (Judas’s Betrayal): “Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, ‘What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?’ So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver”.
Lesson:
Holy Wednesday, or “Spy Wednesday,” is the fourth day of Holy Week, marking the day Judas Iscariot conspired with local authorities to betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver (Matthew 26:14–16). It is sometimes called “Silent Wednesday” due to lack of recorded events, likely spent by Jesus in rest and prayer in Bethany before the Passion. The day highlights Judas’s treachery, as he met with the Sanhedrin to seek the best opportunity to hand Jesus over. While not always placed here chronologically, many traditions remember the woman who anointed Jesus with costly oil in Simon the Leper’s house, a preparation for his burial, contrasted with Judas’s greed.Scripture provides little detail on Jesus’s specific actions, suggesting a day of quiet preparation and prayer before the upcoming events of Thursday. The day is often studied by contrasting the extravagant love of the woman who anointed Jesus with the calculated betrayal of Judas. It is a time for believers to consider how they “betray” or value Jesus in their own lives, sometimes represented by what they spend their money or time on. As the plot to kill Jesus is finalized, this day signifies the move from teaching to the final, sacrificial acts of Holy Week. Holy Wednesday serves as a stark reminder of the mounting darkness against Jesus and the contrast between devotion and betrayal, setting the stage for the Maundy Thursday Last Supper and Good Friday crucifixion. Immediately following the anointing, Judas went to the chief priests to hand Jesus over. Scripture notes that “Satan entered Judas” during this period of decision-making (Luke 22:3).
Closing Prayer: Lord Jesus, as I approach the solemn days of your Passion, I pause on this Holy Wednesday to reflect on your journey to the cross. I remember how you were betrayed by one of your own, and I confess that I, too, often betray you with my indifference, my silence, and my sins. The Liturgy Archive +4
