Sermon

Proverbs chapters 1 through 9 serve as an extended prologue written as a father’s plea to his son, contrasting the path of divine wisdom with the ruin of foolishness. The Author and Purpose: Written by King Solomon, the collection aims to impart wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity to the simple and the youth.The Starting Point: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7). True wisdom is not just intelligence or education; it is a humble, reverent relationship with the The Two Callings: Throughout these chapters, wisdom is personified as a noble woman crying out in the streets, inviting people to turn from ignorance. Conversely, folly and the adulterous woman represent short-term temptation that leads to spiritual and physical destruction. Guarding the Heart: Solomon urges his son to treasure instruction like hidden treasure, because “from it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23). Two Paths: The path of the righteous shines brighter like the dawn, while the path of the wicked stumbles in deep darkness Christ, the Wisdom of God: While Solomon offered brilliant advice, the New Testament points out that “something greater than Solomon is here”. Jesus Christ is the ultimate embodiment of God’s wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30; Colossians 2:3).Grace for the Foolish: Because we have all wandered into foolishness and missed God’s standard, Jesus did not just give us a manual for lifeHe came to rescue, forgive, and transform us.he wisdom of Proverbs 1-9 highlights the creative ways we may seek to instill wisdom one choice at a time. God be with you till we meet again;

By His counsels guide, uphold you,

With His sheep in love enfold you;

God be with you till we meet again.

Till we meet, till we meet,

Till we meet at Jesus’ feet;

Till we meet, till we meet,

God be with you till we meet again.2

God be with you till we meet again!

’Neath His wings protecting hide you,

Daily manna still provide you;

God be with you till we meet again!3

God be with you till we meet again!

When life’s perils thick confound you,

Put His arms unfailing round you;

God be with you till we meet again!4

God be with you till we meet again!

Keep love’s banner floating o’er you,

Smite death’s threatening wave before you;

God be with you till we meet again!

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the source of all true wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. I come before You today asking that You give me an understanding heart and an ear open to Your Word.

Help me to receive Your instructions, hide Your commands within my heart, and tune my ears away from the noise and foolishness of the world. Give me the desire to cry out for insight and to seek Your wisdom just as eagerly as someone searches for silver or hidden treasure

Lord, I ask that You fill me with Your discernment, guide my steps along paths of justice and righteousness, and be a shield to me as I walk in integrity. Let Your wisdom enter my heart and make Your knowledge pleasant to my soul, preserving me from harm and keeping me close to You.

This I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Salvation Prayer or sinners prayer:

Our Heavenly Father I am sorry for my sins. I believe Jesus died for me and rose again. I give my life to You today. Thank You for Your love, grace, and eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
