  • Lesson

The number 5 often symbolizes God’s grace, divine goodness, and redemption. It is associated with sacred architecture, such as the Tabernacle, and with the Torah, the first five books of the Old Testament. Additionally, 5 is linked to the concept of humanity’s incompleteness and dependence on God’s grace. The number 5 is frequently tied to God’s grace and kindness towards humanity. This is seen in instances like the five books of the Torah, which reveal God’s will, and the fivefold ministry of Jesus. The addition of the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet (Hei) to Abram’s name to create Abraham is also significant, marking a transformation through grace. The number 5 appears in the measurements and structure of the Tabernacle, highlighting its connection to God’s dwelling place and the rituals performed there. Some interpretations suggest that the number 5 can also represent a state of being incomplete or lacking, emphasizing humanity’s need for God’s grace and redemption. This is contrasted with the number 7, which represents completeness and perfection. The five books of the Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy).

  • The five loaves of bread used to feed the 5,000.
  • The five wounds of Christ on the cross
  • The five offerings in the Old Testament, each pointing to a different aspect of Christ’s sacrifice.
  • The story of Joseph and Benjamin, where Benjamin receives five times more food and clothing, symbolizing grace and favor.
The fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Hei, is associated with the number 5. It signifies “to look” or “to behold,” and is linked to God’s revelation and grace.
  • Closing Prayer:
