You can have a lot of music, tell stories. The stories are supposed to be for fun. This is a day for all spirits to celebrate.
ll Hallows’ Eve (October 31) is historically and etymologically the eveningThe Name: “Hallow” is an old English word for a holy person or saint. All Hallows’ Eve is literally the hallowed night preceding the Feast of All Saints. [1, 2, 3]

- Reformation Connection: October 31 is also commemorated by many Protestants as Reformation Day, marking the date in 1517 when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg. [1]
How Christians Approach the Day Today
Christians hold a variety of views and practices regarding October 31:
- Redeeming/Reclaiming the Day: Some believers choose to focus on the historical roots of All Hallows’ Eve by emphasizing memento mori (remembering mortality), telling stories of Christian martyrs and saints, dressing up as biblical figures or saints, or hosting crch-bd fall festivals and “trunk-or-treat” events.]
- Total Abstinence: Other Christians choose not to participate in Halloween, citing concerns over modern commercialism, themes of death, fear, witchcraft, or occult practices that they feel conflict with biblical principles (such as Deuteronomy 18:9–12). Instead, they may spend the evening in prayer, family devotior fosing strictly on scriptural light and the resurrection.
Closing Prayer. Heavenly Father we pray today for everyone to spend a lot of time with you and enjoy themselves with parties, music, stories and a great time. We pray this in the name of our lord and savior we pray. Amen.
